I met Mrs. Pantano the day I met Linda, on the first day of kindergarten. She was always kind and generous to me and my family. I'll remember her hospitality, her thoughtfulness, and her interest in all of us throughout the years. My thoughts and prayers are with her and the family.

Words of Remembrance, by Paul, Linda, and Patty
Right now our Mom is probably worried that we haven't eaten in three hours and we will soon need to have lunch. As most of you know anytime you dropped in on Rose she would make the coffee, prepare an omelet, put out the prosciutto and provolone or send Dad out for pizza. Even though you were stuffed you still made room for a slice of one of her famous cakes or homemade cookies.
Just nine months ago, we were here talking about our Dad, the Quiet Man. Today, we are saying a few words about our Mom, the Homemaker.
Our Mom was a wonderful person who focused on the most important parts of life: her God, her family, her friends and her food. Our parents, Rose and Mike were together for 60 years and lived a full and happy life. We are grateful for all the wonderful memories we had growing up in that warm and loving house.
Mom was very devoted to her Church. Since St Monica is down the street from home, Mom walked to church every day. She looked forward to the activities of the Church, attending most of the events and functions offered there.. She liked attending the special novenas. Maybe it was all those prayers that put her children and grandchildren on the right path. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother.
Mom loved her family. Our Mom dedicated her life to taking care of Dad, her parents and us. As my Uncle Sam has reminded us, she would make whatever we wanted for lunch even if it meant making three different sandwiches. Dad liked having dinner when he came home from work every night at 5:15pm. We don't know how but she always managed to have dinner ready at that exact time. It was touching to see in the last several years how they took special care of each other. She loved our Dad and never quite adjusted after he was gone.
Mom’s recurring advice to her children is that we all get along and that we stay close to one another. She loved her children and grandchildren and she would show her love by being interested in what we were doing and by cooking for us when we visited her. Mom adored her grandchildren. She would always make their favorite dishes when they visited. A visit to MomMom and PopPop's house usually included a walk to pickup water ice.
Mom had a special bond with her sister Anna and husband Vic. They talked to each other at least twice a day. Growing up our aunt's family was often at our house for dinner. We spent many vacations together and especially enjoyed the trips to Wildwood. One of the last things that our Mom did was to smile at our Aunt Anna and give her a kiss. Mom loved her nieces and nephews. She loved her extended family of brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. Mom was lucky to grow up with many of her cousins and that formed one of the social circles that she loved and enjoyed.
As all of you know, Mom's special talent was baking. Besides making the birthday, Communion and graduation cakes throughout the year, her speciality were her Christmas cookies, Easter ham pies and ricotta pies. Her family and friends couldn't wait to receive Rose's special deliveries.
In addition, she could prepare a meal at a moment’s notice. She enjoyed having company and as she grew older she took longer to bake or cook what she wanted but she never cut back on the quantity and variety of what she prepared. Each holiday was a reason to make special meals and treats to celebrate the holiday and no holiday was complete unless there were lots of people in the house. We were always amazed at how many people fit into Mom’s home and even though there were so many people, there was always food left over which she offered to people to take home.
Besides cooking and baking, Mom liked to grocery shop. She would check out the advertisements in the paper and Dad would take her to the stores 3-4 times a week to save money.
Some remarkable facts about our Mom: she lived in only 2 houses, she never had a driver’s license; and other than for maternity, she was never a patient in a hospital until February.
Since February 2009, Mom developed relationships with her caregivers. The doctors, nurses, aides that attended to her this past year always remarked what a great and gracious lady she was. Some of these caregivers have called us to say that they will miss her.
We will miss our Mom. Our sense of loss is great because of her impact on our lives up to the end of her life. To console ourselves, we remind ourselves that she is not in pain any more, and that she joined her beloved Mike and the family members that have passed before her.
For most of her life Mom lived the life she wanted. It broke our hearts to see her suffering in the last year. We are at peace that she is no longer in pain. We thank family and friends for all the well wishes and visits to Mom during the last few months. Rose will be greatly missed but will always be in our hearts and minds.

We have very fond memories of our teenage and college years, and Mr. and Mrs. Pantano were a big part of that time. They were always very kind and hospitable to all of us, and they made it a pleasure to be in their home. They were wonderful friends to us and exemplary parents to Paul, Linda, and Patty. We are very sad for your loss and grateful to have known both Mr. and Mrs. Pantano. Michael and Kathleen (Sulpizio) Fields
