Dear Brookes Family,

The world lost a hero and heaven gained an angel. Steve was a man of honor, integrity and faith. He brightened and enlightened every soul he touched. Above all, he loved his family and was proud to share that love with everyone he met. My prayers are with you.

Dear Peggy and girls,

I was deeply saddened when I heard of your loss. I will always remember Steve as an upbeat guy, especially from the volleyball games at Prendie. One thing that truly came across from Steve was his love for his wife and his girls. I continue to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. I'm praying that God comforts all of you at this difficult time. I will visit you soon.

Dear Brookes Family,

I had the great fortune of working with Steve over the past few years. Like so many others, I admired Steve for his kind demeanor, broad knowledge, and willingness to help others. What always shined through strongest with Steve, though, was the love he had for his family. Please know that your family is, and will remain, in my thoughts and prayers.

To Peggy, Meghan, Maura, Erin and the Brookes family:

I've never known a better man than Steve, and I'm a better man for the privelege.

Steve's gift of service to his family, his friends, his God and his country was truly exceptional.

Dear Brookes Family -

I was so saddened to hear of your loss. I worked for two years with Steve at DSCP. He was always so much fun to work with. I just lost my father in August so I know how hard this is. I pray that you will all find a sense of peace and that you will be a comfort to each other as you make your way together in the following days. He was a wonderful man and he will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Peggy and Family,

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. I'll miss Steve, first as a great guy and second as a colleague. In all my years working with Steve he was always reliable, professional and extremely competent. Any time someone mentioned his name the first response was always, "nice guy" and then, "knows his stuff". I will miss him terribly on both counts. May God bless you in this time of sadness.

Dear Peggy, Meghan, Maura and Erin, words can not express the way I felt when I heard of your loss. Rest assured that when we don't have words of comfort we can rely on our Heavenly Father above to comfort us when we need the comfort. Know that I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Steve was the type of person that almost forces you to remember the good about him. Yes, we loved him, but God loved him best. He is now at rest. I pray that your Faith will continue to see you through this most difficult and senssitive time.

Peggy and Family - My deepest sympathy to you all. I know I could never find the words to tell you just how sorry I am but I want you to know i feel honored and privileged to have known Steve - we just worked together on Christmas Day at ST Eugene's rectory and he had me laughing the entire morning. I could always count on Steve to swap dates with me if I had a conflict with a lectoring date or church collection date - he was always so willing! You and the girls were the world to him and his dedication to you all and St Eugene's was something I admired. You are all in my thoughts and prayers and you have to remember that the most beautiful thing about God is that the more we need him, the closer he is and I know he must be very close to you all right now. Please let me know if there is anything my family and I can do to help you through this difficult time.
