Thomas Alberts Obituary

Alberts Thomas W. Age 93, the patriarch of the Alberts family, died peacefully at his home on September 1, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born October 11th, 1929 to Cass and Wally. Tom is survived by his wife, Mary (Ries) Alberts, 91, to whom he was married for almost 70 years, his 7 children, 15 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. His children include Thomas G. (Nancy), Charlene Ward (Daniel), MariAnn Campbell (Christopher), Gerard Alberts (Gloria), Christine Alberts (Mike Janzer), Patrice Kesler (Kurt), and Francine Alberts (Dan Heiges). After graduating from North Catholic High School Tom enlisted in the Marines. He attended Drexel University at night for 8 years earning a degree in chemical engineering while working during the day and raising his family. He was the first in his family to graduate high school and college and was an inspiration to many in the family. After working at Sharples Corp. as a chemical engineer, Tom founded his own company, Alberts and Associates where he and his eventual business partner, Jeff Kerner successfully represented some of America's largest chemical processing manufacturers. Tom was an avid Philly sports fan and loved watching the Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, Sixers and never missed an opportunity to attend one of his grandchildren's games and activities. Tom was well known for his love of pinochle games with family, passion for politics, reading books and the newspaper cover to cover, spending time at the Florida condo, getting the pool ready, trips to the shore, and his legendary toasts that always included a nod "to the travelers." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CTCTEN Foundation (ctcten.org), which was founded in honor of Tom's grandson Christopher, as well as to Sacred Heart Parish Catholic Church in Camden, NJ (1739 Ferry Avenue, Camden, NJ 08104) and Amigos de Jesus (amigosdejesus.org), 2 organizations who are strong advocates for the poor and which Tom and Mary have supported for many years. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 11 A.M. at Maternity BVM Catholic Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the Mass, beginning at 10:00 A.M.

I am very sorry for your family's loss. I came across this today after learning of the passing of a fellow classmate from Ryan. I used to attend school with Francine at B.V.M., but it's been over 40 years. Your father was a great man, ftom what I read. Again, my deepest sympathies.

Dear Mary, It's been almost 30 years but when I read the notice of Tom's passing it was two other names that stood out to me, Mary and Charlene. That's when I knew you were the Mary whose's mother, Charlotte shared a room with my Aunt, Nan Spence at Attleboro Nursing Home.
Even though time has passed I want to thank you for all the help you gave me during our time at Attleboro. I have never forgotten that.
Mary, we pray you are well and blessed to have your loving familiy around you at this difficult time.

My sincere condolences for the family of Tom as I am sure that he will be greatly missed. I thoroughly enjoyed traveling to many customer sites with Tom including to those towns such as Portsmouth, Frackville, Allentown, and of course the Philadelphia area. I found Tom to be very knowledgeable, a customer-oriented representative who was a great listener, and always a great leader. Rest in peace my good friend and rise in glory!
