Billy as we called him both lived on Frazier St. and attended M.B.S grade school. We both went to West Catholic and he and I both took our lady friends to the prom. I have a picture somewhere of his mother tying his tie at there home preparing for the prom .Paul Burt

Billy or Rev Wright went to our senior prom from West Catholic together with our girl friends. I think I have a picture taken at his parents home with someone adjusting his tie

I was saddened this evening when I learned of the death of Father Wright. I first met him and Fr. Joe Blanchfield in 1978 on a trip to the Holy Land sponsored by Immaculata. On that trip, Father spoke so lovingly of his sister, Anne. I recall several of us going with him to a Church honoring St. Anne so he could offer special prayers for his sister.
My husband and I extend our deepest sympathy to Father's family and to the parishioners he loved.
May he rest in peace.

I will truly miss Father Wright. You see back in the 40's and 50's he was"Billy Wright"to me. We both grew up on Frazier St. in Philly, went to grade and high school together and even shared a ride to our senior prom. Young Billy had polio as a child and wore braces on his legs, yet he was cheerful all the while, he was loved by all who knew Him,and when I heard that He had entered the Priesthood I was not surprised. My 96 yr. old Mother informed Me recently that Fr. Wright was being prayed for in Church, and how She always loved Him..God bless you "Billy" our loss is Gods gain .

I grew up in St. Bernadette's but left before Fr. Wright arrived. During our frequent visits back home we were fortunate to become friends through my parents. He was there during the passing of both my parents, and a tremendous support. I will continue the 3 Hail Mary's he always requested. May he now look down upon us and pray for us. He will truly be missed by many. What a tremendous gift to celebrate Jesus birth in heaven. God bless!

Fr. Bill was truly a Holy Man. He never forgot his roots in southwest philly. Much good has come from this neighborhood and this man. He doesn't need our prayers anymore we need his.

How blessed St Bernadette’s Parish was to have Father Wright as their pastor. I pulled out a letter he wrote to my son dated 12/29/2002, accepting his request to be an altar server, it will be a cherished keepsake. I remember how he welcomed us into the parish by giving us a statue of St Bernadette and how he took the time to talk to my mother-in-law on my son’s first communion. He had a deep passion for people and their spiritual well-being. My family has been genuinely inspired by his sermons, sense of humor and particularly his faith. Our prayers will be with his family and parishioners of St Bernadette's.

Father Wright was one of the best priests I have ever known. My brother, Father Jack Kolodziej, used to say mass at St. Bernadette's. One day, my mom and dad came to hear his mass, and Father Wright had them stand up and he introduced them to the whole congregation. Everyone clapped for them and it's a memory my mom and dad always treasured. We lost my mom this past Easter Sunday, and Father Wright was genuinely moved. The other story happened right after I moved to Havertown. Father Wright saw me reporting on Channel 10 and said to me that he told everyone one of his parishioners was on "CNN." I said thank you for giving me a huge raise! He was always so kind and genuinely interested in your life. He was a dear, sweet, devout man, already missed by so many.

Father Wright was an absolute original. Dear, kind, witty and fierce defender of his faith. He always had a story to share, whatever the occasion. He leaves behind a great void. The celebration of the last rites he performed for my mother Marie McLaughlin in June brought us great comfort knowing we were passing her gently into the hands of her savior. He will be forever missed and held close to our hearts. May he rest in peace.

My family were blessed to know Father Wright. He married me and my husband in 1985, gave my daughters their First Holy Communion, was there with the Bishop when my girls were Confirmed and gave my Dad his last rites and performed his funeral mass. He will be dearly missed. I wish him peace and happiness with Our Lord.

I was blessed to have met Father Wright 24 years ago while doing Pre Cana at St. Bernadette's. He baptized my children, and he baptized and confirmed my husband, Bill. When my husband passed away on Christmas Eve 10 years ago, Fr. Wright helped me and my children understand the joy in "going home" on such a special day. I now share his joy in "going home for Christmas." Love and Prayers to his family.

Fr. Bill Wright touched my family so long ago when he lived at St. Gabriel's in Norwood. I remember his wonderful smile and infectious laugh. We missed him when he 'moved a few parishes over' to Drexel Hill. He is fondly remembered and will be sorely missed! Through the sorrow of his passing..OH THE JOY to know that you went 'home' for Christmas! Rest in Peace!

I grew up in MBS with Billy Wright. My husband, Jack and I were honored to know him later in life as Father Wright in St. Gabriel's, Norwood. He enriched us spiritually and we enjoyed serving on the PreCana team with him for several years. We mourn his passing but we are glad that he is at last relieved of his suffering.

Father Wright was an amazing man with a wonderful sense of humor and very caring spirit. He married my husband and I and baptized our first daughter. He always made time for us and greeted us by name every time. My favorite thing about Father Wright was that he always gave me communion by name, I thought that was nice. I'm very sad to learn of his passing but know he is at rest with God in Heaven now.
