I spent 2 enlistments in the Navy and as I began my 2nd enlistment I had the honor of serving under Capt. Martin as a Radioman. Capt. Martin was a big anti-smoker before that was the norm. Over time I credit Capt. Martin for getting me to kick the habit. I have been smoke free for more than 30 years. I fondly remember him as a great Captain and a great man.
