Joan Winslow Obituary

LYNN -- Mrs. Joan M. (Gilroy) Winslow, age 74 and lifelong resident of Lynn, died at her home on Thursday, October 11, 2018, after being stricken suddenly following a lengthy illness.  She was the loving wife of Wayne T. Winslow with whom she shared almost 25 years of marriage. Born in Lynn in 1944, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Ruth F. (Holmes) Gilroy.  She was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School. Joan was the longtime bartender at the former VFW Post 507 in Lynn, a job that she loved very much. She enjoyed baking especially around the holidays and was famous for her delicious pies.  She loved to talk politics and watch her favorite TV shows, Survivor, Law & Order and the daily soap operas. She enjoyed gambling trips to Las Vegas and Foxwoods and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, Wayne, Joan is survived by her son, Gordon Cronin and his late wife Susan of Lynn; her daughter, Terri Cronin and her husband Ned Hickey of Newton; her sister, Mary Margaret Gilroy of Salisbury and her many nieces, nephews, cousins including Paula Anderson and her many friends including her dear friend, Dottie Upton.  She was the sister of the late Thomas, David and Kevin Gilroy. Service information: At Joan's request, Funeral Services will be private.  Arrangements entrusted to SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOMES, LYNN.  Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.  Online guestbook at www.solimine.com
