Louis Rogato Obituary

Louis Richard Rogato, 97
1927 - 2025
North Andover - Louis Richard Rogato, 97, of North Andover died peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at High Pointe House surrounded by his loving children.
Louis was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on September 24, 1927. He was the child of the late Luigi Rogato and Giovanina (Cusimano) Rogato. Louis was a longtime resident of Lynn, MA. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School and was a proud member of the Lynn Brickyard.
Louis met his late wife, Helen, at a dance in Lynn. They were married in 1952 and shared over seventy beautiful years together. Helen and Louis had two adoring children, Richard and Lynn.
Louis was a multi-branch veteran of the United States Armed Forces. He served in the Navy during World War II and in the Army during the Korean War. After his time in the military, Louis joined the Lynn Police Department, where he served his community for thirty years. He started as a beat patrolman, later worked on the Vice Squad, and retired as a detective. Louis and Helen relocated to Dennis Port, Cape Cod. They also wintered in Naples, Florida with family and friends.
Louis had an extraordinary green thumb. His yard was adorned with beautiful flower bushes and fruit trees. Lou loved animals. He especially enjoyed watching and feeding the birds in his yard. One could often find him sitting on his deck or beneath his grapevine trellis, admiring them with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee in his hand. Louis was also an avid tennis player for over fifty years. A loyal Patriots fan, Lou enjoyed watching the games with his family. He loved being near the ocean, whether to swim, sunbathe, clam dig, or fish. A self-taught musician, Louis played the piano and the trumpet. As a young adult, he joined the Lynn VFW Post 6 Marching Band. He also loved listening to Italian opera and big band music. Louis was a wonderful cook. His family especially loved his pasta sauce, pizzelles, and homemade ravioli.
Louis was a kind and charismatic soul. A devoted Husband, Father, and Grampa, he was very proud of his family and loved them fiercely. Lou had a knack for making his loved ones laugh. He would often be spotted slipping his grandchildren chocolate or a twenty dollar bill from "Jack and Peter".
Louis is survived by his son Richard L. Rogato of North Andover, daughter Lynn J. Rogato of Andover, and sister Teresa (Rogato) Fabiano of Naples, FL. Louis is also survived by his five granddaughters: Kerry Lynne Perry and her husband Bryan, Kaitlin Rogato, Kristen Grasso and her husband Jonathan, Kara Eagan and her husband William, and Kaileigh Rogato. Additionally, Louis is survived by his eight great-grandchildren Theresa, Brianne, Celia, John, Julia, Richard, Wesley and Daisy, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (Mynahan) Rogato, daughter-in-law Beverly (McCarty) Rogato, sister Mary (Rogato) Levy, and brothers Alphonse, Joseph, Ralph, James & Antonio.

RIP Louis, as a young officer in the eighties Detective Rogato gave me many words of wisdom that I followed and he was never wrong. He was a wonderful man and a fine officer. The world is a little darker without him.
