Helen Fassinger

02/11/1928 - 02/07/2021 Mrs. Helen Fassinger passed away at home in Rancho Cucamonga, CA on February 7th. Helen, the oldest of four girls, was born on February 11, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Helen attended Mount Alvernia High School and furthered her studies at the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University. In 1957 Helen married William Fassinger at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Greentree, Pennsylvania. The couple had four children and relocated to Southern California in 1969. Before working as a supervisor at the California State Employment Development Department in the 1970's and 1980's, Helen was a Lab Technician for Pittsburgh Coke and Chemical, a primary school Teacher, an Administrative Assistant for the University of Pittsburgh and a Piano Teacher. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen enthusiastically celebrated holidays, and family members' milestones and accomplishments. Helen will be especially remembered for her Cookie Exchange parties and her piano accompaniment to Christmas Carols at family parties. She enjoyed traveling overseas, and camping throughout the United States, bridge tournaments and needlework. She was involved in fundraising at the San Diego Center for the Blind. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Helen Garrigan, son Neil Fassinger and two sisters - Dolores Hamashin and Sr. Patricia Garrigan. She is survived by Bill, her loving husband of 63 years, her sister Vicki Fanta (Frank), son Paul (Maria), daughters Anne (Richard) and Julia (Frank), eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church in Alta Loma at 11:00am on Thursday, April 8th. A Rosary will be held beforehand at 10:30am.
