"Stub" Hill Obituary

"Stub" (Louis T., Jr.) Hill, 74, of Wickenburg, AZ passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Hill was born April 22, 1941 in Bisbee, AZ. He joined The RCA (Rodeo Cowboys Assoc.), which was the predecessor of the PRCA in 1959, riding bulls full time until 1970. Hill was a lifetime member of The Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. Stub was always known as "tough to get on the ground". In addition to his bull riding, he was involved in rodeo public relations, promotional activities, and acted as "Advance" PR man in many of the large rodeo companies, such as Cervi, Golden State and Flying U Rodeo. As Advance "PR" man, one of his favorite locations was the Brawley Cattle Call Rodeo. After retiring from bull riding in 1970 he later became Advertising Director for the Pro Rodeo Sports News, at PRCA headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition to his writing talent, Stub was a musician, singer and artist. In 1995, Hill moved to Wickenburg, AZ and purchased The Rancher Bar. In this new business endeavor, Stub became actively involved in the community, hosting many fund raisers and events throughout the years. In 2013 Hill decided it was time once again for a career change. Stub sold the business and became a retiree. Favorite pastimes included reading, keeping up with his many friends and continuing his guitar playing. Hill is survived by his son, Chad; several nephews, nieces, cousins and many close friends. Services were held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Wickenburg Elk's Lodge. The family suggests memorials go to Wickenburg Cops Who Care, PO Box 20688, Wickenburg, AZ 85358 or Sobriety House, Inc. Attn: Jeannette Judish, 121 Acoma St., Denver, CO 80223.
