Gilbert Carl Grijalva went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2024. Gilbert was born on January 3, 1949, to Gilbert John Grijalva and Evangeline Grijalva in Selma, CA. He and his family moved to Azusa, CA, when he was 12 years old and he graduated from Azusa High School in 1967.
Gilbert was filled with joy due to his relationship with his Lord Jesus Christ. He willingly shared this love for Christ with everyone he came in contact with. He worked for the GTE/Verizon phone company for 30 years as a cable splicing technician and troubleshooter and retired in the year 2000.
He married his wife, Kathy (Reyes) Grijalva in 1995. He enjoyed fishing in Mammoth, hiking, cycling, photography, breaking bread with his brothers in the Lord, and was known for his handyman skills.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert J. Grijalva and Evangeline Grijalva, and his sister Sharon (Grijalva) Pimental. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Kathy Grijalva; children, Bleu Grijalva, Sean Grijalva, Felicia (Arredondo) Murray, and Gabriel Arredondo; grandsons, Benjamin Grijalva, Colby Grijalva, Nicholas Murray, and Zachary Murray; and his brother, Claude Grijalva; and sister, Sylvia Ledesma.
Gilbert Carl Grijalva's Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Frye Chapel in Brawley, CA, from 10 to 1 p.m. A Breaking Bread luncheon will follow at the Lions Center in Brawley from 1 to 4 p.m.

Gil was a great God loving man. He loved talking to anyone about God and just about anything else. When I met Gil at Gateway 10 plus years ago he was welcoming to me and my wife Brianna. He had nicknames for just about anyone he was in contact with. He never judged anyone and was always understanding. When i was out of contact with him and I would comeback, he would always say "the Prodigal Son returns". He was great to be around and he will be greatly missed.
