JOYCE L. RAMEY

Joyce L. Ramey, 72, of Brawley went home to be with the lord after a lenghty illness at her home on Saturday, February 19, 2006.
Joyce was born in Belen New Mexico December 27, 1933 in New Mexico and came to Brawley at the age of 8 years old. She married Darrel Ramey May of 1952. She attended Ruth Reid, Barbara Worth and went back to recieve her diploma from Brawley Union High in 1975. She married her husband of 53 years, Darrell Ramey in May of 1952. She and Darrell owned Ramey's Meats.
Joyce worked at Newberry's and as a teacher's aide at Ruth Reid School for a couple of years. She also coached the swim team for about 12 years. Her other interests were the wrestling team at Brawley Union High and the Boy Scouts. She was a member of the Soroptimists Club for 32 years.
Joyce had a big heart, was loving and caring. She loved to entertain family and friends in her home. Two of the special people in her life, other than her husband Darrell and her two sons, were her grandchildren Michael and Lauren Ramey. She was admired for her courage and faith through her many years of illness, her great sense of humor and beautiful smile. She was loved by everyone .
Visitation will be Thursday, February 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Christian Church in Brawley.
Chapel services will be officiated by Pastor Baumgartner on Friday, February 24, at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley commencing at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery also in Brawley.
Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Darrell "The Kid" October 10, 2003.
Joyce is survived by her Husband, Darrell Ramey; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Patti Ramey; grandchildren, Michael and Lauren Ramey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jess and Erika Hamilton of Parker Heights, TX, Jim and Fernanda Hamilton, Ham and Tammie Hamilton all of Brawley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Danny Graham of Paynes Creek, CA, Joan & Mel Manees of Calipatria, CA; sisters-in-law, Barbara Ramey, Mary Anne Floyd of Brawley, Diane Erwin of El Centro; numerous nieces and nephews.

Uncle Darrell,
I'm so sorry to hear about Aunt Joyce. I love you both so much. I only hope my new marriage can live by your example of strength and love. I'm so proud to be a part of you.
