RANDALL FISHER Obituary

RANDALL "RANDY" "DOLPH" ADDISON FISHER

Dec. 3, 1950 – Oct. 17, 2024

Randall "Dolph" "Randy" Addison Fisher, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 17, 2024, in Reno, Nevada. He was born in El Centro, California on December 3, 1950, the son of James and Beverly Fisher. His parents and his brother Robert "Rookie" Fisher preceded him in death. At Dolph's request there will be no formal service.

Randy was a graduate of Central Union High School, Class of '68 in El Centro, California, received his AA degree at Imperial Valley JC, and studied towards a Music Education degree at San Diego State.

Randy enjoyed golf, the SF 49'ers, San Diego Chargers, LA Dodgers, joking around with friends and loved playing music. He was a band member performing on trombone in several popular bands throughout his adult life: Groovy and the Thunderbirds in El Centro; Bump & Grind, The Alpine Band, Wade Brothers Band (aka Gary Wade Band) all in Reno, NV; HornDawgs and Mickey Gilley's Urban Cowboy Band at the Mickey Gilley Theater. Both bands were well-known and loved by local fans and visitors to Branson, Missouri.

Randy Was a three-time winner of the Branson Area Music Award for trombone, was Inducted into the Branson Musician and Entertainers Hall of Fame in 2000, and nominated for the OZ Award for Trombone Player of the Year in 2003.

Randy donated his corneas in memory of his mother, a highly-respected English educator at Central Union High School in El Centro and an active community member, who had suffered from macular degeneration. He inherited his love for music from his father, a talented musician who played for hundreds of weddings and funerals, was organist at the First United Methodist Church and taught piano and organ lessons to many in the Valley.

Randy is survived by his sister, Mary Jane (Fisher) Arner of Sonoma, CA; his three nieces, Melanie Arner Corona of Gilroy, CA, Sally Spilsbury of Benecia, CA and Megan Loftus of Sonoma, CA; his special lady and guardian angel, Linda May of Reno, NV; nephew, Ryan Dickerman of Sparks, NV; and several grand nieces and nephews.

Randy's cremains will be buried next to his brother Bob "Rookie" Fisher at the Yocum Pond Cemetery in Branson, Missouri where they'll both be playing heavenly music together again. His family suggests donations can be made in Randy's name to the James B. Fisher FUMC Pipe Organ Fund c/o First United Methodist Church, 312 South 8th Street, El Centro, CA 92243.

Dear Mary Jane,
So sorry for your family's loss. I enjoyed chatting with Randy at one of the reunions. It's not surprising that your brothers were gifted musicians, just like your dad.
