SHIRLEY BLACK Obituary

SHIRLEY BLACK

Dec. 21, 1938 – June 20, 2025

It is with both joy and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, Shirley Black. Heaven has truly gained a beautiful angel.

Born in 1938, in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, Shirley moved with her mother and six sisters to Imperial, California, in the early 1940s.

Shirley gave her life to the Lord at a young age and remained steady and true to God and her family until the end. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

Shirley raised four sons as a single mother and gave her very best in all things. Her strength and faithfulness were the heart of our family.

She began her career at ECCH in the early '60s, starting out in the ER. Through hard work, she became an LVN and eventually an RN. Most of her career was spent working in the surgical department.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Rocky (Naomi), Harold, and Stuart (Michelle); her sister, Joy; her grandchildren: Roy, Tucker, Chase, Jennifer, Aletta, Amber, and Jefferson; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, five sisters, her son, James, and her grandson, Ryan.

Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. in El Centro, California.
