I remember Uncle Tom as a very tall, easy going, pleasant fellow. He wore a smile well and was always kind with a twinkle in his eyes. I liked him very much. He lived a long and full life.

I remember Uncle Tom bringing in fresh cantaloupe from his work as a crop inspector when we visited. He was a quiet, gentle man with dignity.
