Patsy Mitchell Obituary

Patsy Joy "(Grizzle)" Mitchell December 1, 1934 - July 21, 2025 Pat Mitchell passed away peacefully Monday, July 21 at her home in Bryson. She was 90 years old. She was born Dec. 1, 1934 in Mansfield to Raymond and Erlene (Wright) Grizzle.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Bryson.

She married Don Rhea Mitchell on Nov. 16, 1957 and they were married for 47 years until his passing in 2006. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bryson for over 50 years, and played the piano there for several years.

Pat went to Midwestern State University and received her Masters Degree in Education. After graduation she started teaching at Bryson ISD for 13 years, where she taught 2nd grade, Gifted and Talented, and Theatre Arts. After Retiring from BISD, she taught GED at Lindsey State Jail in Jacksboro for five years.

In 2011 she married the Methodist preacher, Rev. Jim Bell. They enjoyed themselves until his passing in 2012. Pat is preceded in death by her husbands, Don Mitchell and Jim Bell and brother Eugene Grizzle.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her son Mike Mitchell and wife Rhonda, grandson Cody Mitchell and Wife Megan and grandson Michael Mitchell and Wife Tarrah, granddaughter Danielle Mitchell and Fiance Chris Jakstas, great-grandchildren Tyler, Travis, Gabriel, Christian, Kinley, Morgan, Lyla and Eli. Sister Margaret Danford and Husband Bill.

Special thanks to Latasha Kirby of Beyond Faith Hospice, Callie Pippin and Lisa Acuna of Busy B's for their special care and respect they showed Pat in her final months, and they were some of her former students
