Robert Reed Obituary

Robert Terry Reed August 14, 1942 - January 10, 2025 Robert Terry Reed passed away Friday, January 10, 2025 in Boyd, Texas. He was 82 years old. Terry was born at home in Burdette, Arkansas on August 14, 1942, the oldest of 4 children to R.T. and Durette (Stockton) Reed.

Terry married his wife and love of his life, Carol (King) Reed on April 10, 1964 in Weatherford, Texas. They were married 59 years before Carol's passing on October 1, 2023. Together they built a wonderful life and raised their two sons, Robert and Tim. Along the way, Terry provided for and helped raise brothers, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Terry graduated from Morehouse High School in Morehouse, Missouri in 1962. Shortly afterward, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in September 1962 where he served for 4 years during the Viet Nam War. After his service, Terry worked for Bell Helicopter in Hurst, TX, followed by Scott Heating and Air Conditioning in Fort Worth, TX, and finally graduated from the inaugural class of Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Department of Public Safety (DPS) in 1974. He started on the fire side of the DPS, and along the way he earned an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Services from the University of Texas and Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX. Terry spent many years as a paramedic and retired as a Sergeant on the police side in 2001 after 27 years of service.

Terry was a member of the Jacksboro Church of Christ and supported the Concerned Citizens of Jacksboro. He was a Master Mason raised in the Polytechnic Lodge #925 in Fort Worth Texas in 1967. Terry taught his sons and his grandchildren to have a strong work ethic and how to be independent. Every day he rose with the chores of the day that included taking care of the RTR Ranch, tending the cattle and donkeys, servicing his oil wells, repairing and tinkering with tractors and all things mechanical, and teaching firearm safety. Granddad was full of wisdom and his famous sayings, like "Don't take any wooden nickels!" and "Don't let the grass grow under your feet!" He enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the point of spoiling them. He also loved to hunt and fish.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include Sons - Robert Reed and wife Brenda of Weatherford & Tim Reed and wife Amanda of Boyd; Grandchildren - Danielle (Reed) Griffin and husband Adam of Boyd, Ryan Reed and wife Katka of Fort Worth, Taylor (Reed) Gates and husband Dalton of Weatherford, and Rachel Reed of Weatherford; and Great-grandchildren - Reed and Ava Griffin, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (King) Reed, parents, R.T. and Durette (Stockton) Reed, sister, Sandra (Reed) Tibbs, and brothers Randall and Ronnie Reed.
