Linda J. Eighnor

74, of Brook, Indiana, passed away July 27, 2017 at 6:55 am in Hospice Franciscan Communities, Crown Point, IN, she had been in the hospital one week.  Linda was born August 2, 1942 in Lafayette, IN to the late Lowell and Hazel H. Jessen Thorston.  She graduated from the Morocco High School, Morocco, IN class of 1960, and loved playing in the Jasper Newton County Community Band, painting, flowers and crafts.  On July 17, 1971 in Morocco, IN she married the love of her life, David E. Eighnor and he survives.  She worked in the Newton County Court House for over 30 years, both in the Clerks Office and the Auditors Office.  Linda was a member of the United Church of Morocco, Morocco, IN., Jasper Newton County Community Band and a 50 year member of the Phytian Sisters.

Besides her husband, Linda is survived by one sister, Patricia E. & David McKee, Taylors, S.C., 4 nieces and nephews, Tamara Savidge,  Jera Phillips, Michael McKee and Montgomery McKee, and several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 3l, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. (CDT) at the Gerts Funeral Home, Brook, IN, with funeral services on Tuesday, August l, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Morocco, IN.   Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, or the United Church of Morocco.

It was my good fortune to know Linda thru our work for Newton County and my pleasure to reconnect with her after our retirements playing bunco at the Kentland Library. My condolences to David and her family. Many of us are feeling great sadness at her passing. What a lovely person to have known.
