Raymond Romein, 86

Raymond Romein of Delphi, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Mr. Romein was born in St. Anne, Illinois to Martin and Annie (Vrolyk) Romein on November 11, 1929.

Mr. Romein served in the Korean War beginning in June 1951 through February 1953. He attended leadership school after basic training and achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class under the Heavy Weapons Division serving on the front lines.

He married Donna L. Fieleke at Momence First Baptist Church on January 1, 1953 and she survives.

Mr. Romein attended DeVry Trade School in Chicago for air conditioning and refrigeration.

Mr. Romein moved from Florida to Delphi to farm in 1965. He retired after 17 years from General Foods in maintenance in Lafayette.

He was a member of the Delphi First Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing and playing his musical saw. He was a member of the American Legion Post #75.

He loved fishing, hunting and was a wonderful handyman and inventor.

Along with his wife, Donna of 63 years, he is survived by a son, Joel Romein, and wife, Jeanna, and a daughter, Marcia Jura and husband, Scott of Delphi, and five grandsons and 3 step grandchildren, sister-in-law, Dorothy Hoekstra of St. Anne, IL.

His parents, and two brothers, Elmer and Clarence Romein, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016. Funeral service at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi. Pastor William Glenn will officiate. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg with Military Graveside Rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Voice of the Martyrs - Bibles to Captive Nations, PO Box 443, Bartlesville, OK 74005-0443.
