Richard Barman Obituary
Lafayette - Richard J. Barman, 94, of Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.
He was born December 27, 1926, in Grand Rapids, MI, to the late Robert C. and Doris Salzman Barman.
He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII.
His marriage was to Sandra Gurnham and she passed away in 2004.
Richard worked as a Horticulturalist for Purdue University for over 30 years.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Lafayette.
Richard enjoyed watching the birds, his computer, the beach and mostly the time with his family and friends.
Surviving are daughter, Catharine Barman of Lafayette, son, David "Bert" F. (Vicki) Barman of Sunset Beach, NC and daughter, Sharon A. (John) Lewis of Arvada, CO. Grandchildren, Stuart (Candace) Barman, Jamila (Greg) Baker, Jessica Morrison, James Lewis, Angelina Lewis, Eddie Conlon and Danny Conlon, and several great grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra and a brother, John Barman.
A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 600 Ferry St., Lafayette, IN, 47901 on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Fr. Bradley Pace will be officiating, followed by inurnment in St. John's Memorial Garden.
