Mason Vanderwork Obituary
Memorial services will be held at noon Saturday, March 30 at Onslow Beach, Camp Lejeune with Chaplain Nathan Solomon officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the United States Marine Corps.
Born April 28, 1991, in Jamestown, N.Y. He was the son of Melissa Vanderwork of Hickory and Kevin Hallberg of Jamestown, N.Y. Lance Cpl. Vanderwork was in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lejeune and a graduate of St. Stephens High School.
He is survived by his wife, Taylor Vanderwork of Jacksonville; his parents; one sister, Katelyn McMahan of Hickory; grandfather, Terry Vanderwork, of Clymer, N.Y.; grandparents, Cecil and Gloria Huffman of Taylorsville; grandmother, Donna Morgan of Hickory; uncle, Dawayne Vanderwork of Lakewood, N.Y.; mother-in-law, Janet Molander-Foster of Hickory; father-in-law, Mark Foster of Hickory; two brothers-in-law, Bryant Molander of Dover, N.H., and Justin Molander of Ft. Carson, Colo.; and sister-in-law, Lindsey Foster of Hickory.
Memorials may be made in his honor to Marines Helping Marines, 512 Thorton Court, Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29579.

I wish I had the right words to say at this time, but I know there are none. I grieve for the loss of your beloved son and I know that I cannot fathom the pain you must be feeling. Your son will not be forgotten and what he did to help protect our homeland and our freedoms. It was his life that made him a Hero. It was his noble path that made him an American Hero. It was his ultimate sacrifice that made him a Fallen Hero. May God carry him to Heaven on His precious wings and give him a palace to live in. I pray that our Heavenly Father above will grace you with His love, His comfort and His peace. Heaven's Gates now has a new handsome Marine standing guard. Amen.
