David Blunt Obituary

David Wayne Blunt (62) of Rose Street Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Penn Highlands Hospital in DuBois, PA.

Born on Monday, September 21, 1959, in Augusta, Illinois, Dave was the son of James Richard Blunt and Phyllis Irene Schuster Blunt.

On August 20, 1983, in Des Moines, Iowa, he married the love of his life Marian Metts, who survives in Brookville.

He was self-employed as the owner/operator of his own trucking company D. Blunt Enterprises operating out of Brookville, PA.

Dave was a member of the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Assoc., dual member of the F.O.E #983 of Brookville, PA, F.O.E #3807 of Clarion, PA, and the Brookville Fireman's Club, but most importantly he had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior, dearly loved his family and friends, and making people laugh.

He really enjoyed going every Sunday to Giant Eagle in Brookville to pick up food, etc. and delivering the goods to the local food pantry, loved music, camping and fishing, gardening, and picking flowers to give to his wife and his daughters.

Dave considered himself a master chef, always cooking for his family and friends, and loved to travel with his wife Marian all over the country, especially to the Midwest.

He is survived by his 2 Daughters – Dr. Amy Marie Blunt of Brookville, PA, and Kristen Anne Blunt Baker (husband –David) of Williamsport, PA; Brothers – Gary Blunt of Des Moines, Iowa, Michael Blunt of Lee Summit, MO, Jamie Blunt (wife –Ewa) of Huntington Beach, CA; Sisters – Shirley Blunt of Morgantown, WV, and Deborah Blunt of St. Joseph, MO; along with his Aunt Barbara Feck (husband Chuck) of Janesville, WI, Sister-in-Law Marie Metts of Brookville, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, a Brother Steve Blunt, and Sister Nancy Lewis.

The family welcomed friends at the Peterson Funeral Home 153 Jefferson St., Brookville, PA, on Saturday, July 9th, 2022, from 11 o'clock a.m. to 2 o'clock p.m., a service followed at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Andrew Strohm and Chaplain Roger Lee McGary officiating.

Internment will take place in the Riggs Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., PA, and in loving memory of Dave memorial contributions may be made to the Brookville Food Pantry – 142 Allegheny Blvd. Brookville, PA 15825, the American Heart Association – 185 Hospital Drive, Warren, PA 16365, or to Stray Cat Central of Brookville, PA.
