To the Carr family: You are all in our prayers at this time of loss. I met your parents a few years back when I worked at the nursing home in Effingham and Karen was there. What a sweetie she was. I enjoyed working with her and her cute laugh. I had lost track of her until I saw the death notice. I'm sorry but I didn't know your Mother had already passed away. I drove a semi with my husband for 20 yrs so we were gone a lot. I would love to see Karen again. Please give her a hug from an old friend. I don't even remember how old she would be now, possibly early 40's? Please feel free to e-mail me when you have time and update me on Karen. Again, you have our prayers and deepest sympathy. In God's love

To my "cousins" of the Carr family,
Great sadness is in my heart as I read of the news of Herman's passing. I know that my grief must be small in comparison to yours. The kindness and gentleness of his spirit now rests with the Lord. I have been truly blessed in this life to have been able to call him a friend.
Some many good memories....
I remember being out at the farm the night of July 20th, 1969. We all were playing hide and seek in the yard and then Marge and Herman called us in to watch an historic moment; we all watched, mesmerized, man's first landing on the moon.
Camp Coleman! And that's all I'm going to say about that. yippee
Having coffee with David and Boze and the rest of the "boys" playing scratch-offs and solving most of the world's problems.
Herman always treated me kindly and never judged me. I always had the greatest respect for him and Marge for them both raising such a wonderful bunch of kids; fine adults now, that I have always thought of as my "cousins."
I wish that I could be there for the visitation and funeral to pay my last respects. However, this must suffice until I can see you again.
May God bless you all as you grieve your great loss and while you rejoice in his much blessed life.
Sincerely yours,
Scott Matteson
