Henry Mosley

MATTOON - Henry Mosley, age 87, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 4:40 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2012, at his residence. The funeral service in his honor will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938. Reverend Cypress Hughes will officiate. Interment will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00p.m., at the funeral home. Born in Edwards, Mississippi, on March 13, 1925, Henry was the son of Robert and Fannie (Younger) Mosley. He married Mattie Smith in Mattoon, IL, in 1966. She passed away in 1999. He is survived by his children, DeeDee Carey, Corey Carey, and Nicole Carey of Mattoon, IL, and Brittany Mosley of Alton, IL; a step-daughter, Essie Simons of Chandler, AZ; two sisters, Nannie Bell Williams and Jessie Jelks, both of Vicksburg, MS; three brothers, Robert Mosley and J.C. Webb of St. Louis, MO, and Leothis Webb of Vicksburg, MS; his grandchildren, Danisha Dinwoodie, Marcus Dinwoodie, Kei Kei Carey, Courbriana Jackson, Shaniya Henderson; step-grandchildren, Tim Shaw, Rick L. Moss, Rebecca Moss, Debbie Wallace, Mariesa Jeter, and Mia Wright; and several step-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a step-grandson, Charles Moss. Mr. Mosley was retired from the Illinois Central Railroad. He enjoyed gardening, tinkering, and working on anything. He cherished his family and treasured his friends.
