Joan Badorek Obituary

Joan E. (Florence) Badorek passed away in Klamath Falls, Ore., Monday, May 26, 2008. She was 64.

A celebration of Joan's life was held on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Eternal Hills Chapel. A reception followed. Cremation was held at Eternal Hills Crematory.

Joan was born on December 2, 1943, in Hartford to Ernest W. and Elizabeth (Christopoulous) Florence. She grew up in Connecticut, attending and graduating from Manchester High School. She later moved to Maine and California before settling in 1975 in Klamath Falls, where she started her own business called Joan's Ceramics. Joan was married to Willard Pike, and later to Arthur Badorek in Reno, Nev., in 1987. He preceded her in death in 2000. Joan loved art and won many awards for her creativity. She was a member of the Klamath Ceramic Association. She was also in a bowling league for many years. Joan was active in the Klamath Basin Horse Association and won horsewoman of the year in 1978. She was loving, generous, and compassionate, and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter Robin Dowty and her husband, Mike, of Bend; son, Scott Pike and his wife, Sheila, of Tulelake, Calif.; daughter, Tara Huwa and her husband, Doug, of Burlington Flats, N.Y.; grandchildren Heather, Zachary, and Jeff Dowty, Amanda and Morgan Huwa, Ryley Steidle and Michael Wooten; brothers Ken Florence of Stafford Springs and James Florence of Naples, Fla. In addition to her husband and her parents, Joan was preceded in death by and infant daughter Joanie Pike in 1965.

Eternal Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
