Joyce Sambogna Obituary

Joyce Sambogna
1933 - 2024
Joyce Sambogna of Manchester, CT, 90, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 14th.
Joyce was born on August 28, 1933, to Frances Gardner and James Oatman in Bennington, VT. After graduating from Bennington High School, she attended the Mary Fletcher Hospital at the University of Vermont in Burlington to pursue a career as an x-ray technician. Her career brought her to CT where she met her husband, John F. Sambogna.
Joyce and John were married in 1956 in a beautiful winter ceremony in Bennington attended by many family and friends. Shortly after they married, they moved to Bolton, CT and her career changed to the one her family knew her as best, Mom. Joyce spent much of her time raising three children, volunteering for church organizations and collecting antiques. In her later years, she loved spending time with her children and their families, going on many summer vacations together.
She is survived by her three children, Linda Varcas and her husband Greg of Wolcott CT, Doreen Young and her husband Paul of Glastonbury CT, and John J. Sambogna and his wife Dana of Chatham MA. She leaves behind her two grandchildren who meant the world to her: Courtney (Varcas) Scotto and her husband Dan, and Alec Varcas. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren who brought her so much joy, Nolan, Greyson and Hudson Scotto.
Joyce is predeceased by her parents, her husband John, and her brother Gordon Oatman.
The family would like thank Anna, Joyce's caregiver in her final years. Without her love and tireless devotion, Joyce's quality of life in her final years would not have been possible. The family is forever grateful.
Per Joyce's request all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in memory of Joyce to the Dementia Society of America by mail to PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901, or online www.DementiaSociety.org/donate.
