Richard Montagna Obituary

Richard Joseph Montagna Sr., 79, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021.

Richard was born in Hartford. He was a graduate of Enfield High School and resided in Enfield for 79 years. He was the owner of Southwood Paint & Hardware, before his retirement. Richard served his country honorably in the United States Army and was married to his loving wife Lucille of 38 years. Richard loved to travel and explore having visited and hiked in many national parks and even enjoyed white water rafting at the age of 70 years old! He also loved cars, especially corvettes.

Richard is survived by his son Richard Montagna and his wife, Kelly of Southington; and his daughter Melissa Ketchale and her husband, Joel and his two grandchildren, Haleigh Ketchale and Ian Ketchale of Enfield; brother Raymond Montagna and his wife, Henrietta and niece, Christine Montagna of Somers; brother John Montagna and his wife, Joy of Sun City West, Arizona. Richard was predeceased by his parents Raymond, and Ennis Maffisoli. He was also predeceased by his loving wife Lucille (Foresi) Montagna in 2007.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, Dec. 13, from 9 to 11 a.m., Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date in St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield.

Donations may be made in Richard's honor to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston MA 02284.
