Robert Roncari Obituary

Robert (Bob) J. Roncari, 72, cherished son, brother, and uncle, died on June 18, 2009, with his sister by his side.

Bobby was the son of the late Angelo J. and Theresa (Rinaldi) Roncari. He lived in East Granby most of his life, moving to Naples, Fla., six years ago. He was a longtime, actively involved member of the East Granby Lions Club from whom he received the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow Award for Dedicated Humanitarian Service by the Lions Club International Foundation. Throughout Bob's life he demonstrated his father's ingenuity with his own small enterprises and variety of positions held at Roncari Industries, ACI, and West Side Parking; and exhibited his mother's beautiful heart in his innocence, spirit, and love of people. In 2003 he retired to Naples, Fla., with his sister and brother-in-law where he was quickly embraced by all with his delightful "have-golf-cart-will-travel" community involvement. A special child of God, in his gentle goodness, he knew no strangers.

Robert is survived by two sisters, Carol (Roncari) Messenger and her husband, Harry, of Naples, Fla., and Maria Roncari of Kissimmee, Fla.; seven nieces and nephews, Paul Gaioni of East Granby, Laura (Gaioni) Roja and her fiancé, Wally, of Norfolk, Va., David Gaioni and his wife, Cindy, of Southington, Beth (Gaioni) Rich and her fiancé, Chris, of Windsor Locks, Greg Gaioni and his fiancée, Shannon, of Los Angeles, Calif., Todd Connell and his wife, Jennifer, of Kissimmee, Fla., and Heather Connell-Roncari of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grand nieces and nephews, Domineck, Breanna, R.J., Alexa, Danielle, Ryan, and Kennedy; and Debbie (Gaioni) Michaels and Gary Rich.

The funeral services will be Friday, June 26, at 9 a.m. from The Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church in Tariffville. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Tariffville.

Friends may call to The Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, June 25, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation, 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611.

Dear Maria, Carol, Harry and Family,

I am so, so very sorry about Bobby's passing. I am sorry I was not here for his funeral. What is the Roncari Family without "Bobby". He was so sweet and funny. My memories of Bobby are so dear and make me smile.

You are in my thoughts and heart.

All my love,
Birdie

Carol, Harry, Maria & Family ~ Too many great memories to share here. But my favority story is the one of how my mother had to miss Bobby's 25th birthday party to deliver me! So, as always I will remember him on our birthday. Sorry I can't be there with you, my surrogate family, but will be there in spirit and in prayer.
Love,
Kathy

To the Gaioni and Messenger Family - Please accept my sincerest sympathy on the loss of this wonderful and gentle man. Laura, I remember going to your grandparent's house and Bobby was always there to greet us with a smile and kind word.

Carol and Maria -

Growing up next door to Bobby we would often see him at the end of the workday, just for a moment or two. He would share a few words with [George Cavalieri] our dad then be on his way. From that time on and through the years hearing Bob's deep chuckle in response to my father's laughter would always make hearts a little lighter.

Bob was always a gracious, curious and gentle soul in our midst; his presence was made possible by loving and determined parents, and later through the love, home and friendship he shared with Carol and Harry. He was the embodiment of the kindness that Angelo and Theresa shared with all whose lives they touched.

With thanks for the years of memories and heartfelt sympathy at your loss,
Trudy & George (Dante) Cavalieri, Mark & Nela Cavalieri, and Linda Cavalieri & Toni Matera

We are so sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. We remember when our Dad worked for Roncari Industries and Bob would come into his office and spend time talking. He was always so involved and interested in the out come of certain projects that our Dad would be working on. Dad would always share at dinner some of Bob's stories.

Bob has an amasing family, you will be in our prayers. Ayotte Brothers, Steve Sandra, Lester, Mike and families

To my Family,

We have lost yet another branch in our Family Tree of Greatness. My heart aches... yet my spirit is strong because I know the numerous lessons and truly unconditional love that we received from Bobby will never be forgotten. I can only hope that we can continue to teach our children, our family and our friends never to set limits in what they are able to accomplish. Bobby was my ultimate Teacher! I will share his legacy with the kids I work with everyday and know he will continue to change lives.

Our love to all of you...especially to Mom (Carol) and Harry. You are both amazing and I thank you for the unmeasurable sacrifices you have made. Not many people could have done what you have for so long.

Thoughts and prayers,

Beth(Gaioni)Rich, Chris Walker, Danielle Rich, Ryan Rich and Gary Rich
