Roger Ruel Obituary

Roger M. Ruel, 90, the husband of his late beloved Claire (Cavanaugh) Ruel, who died in 1991, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at his home in Manchester.

Born in Biddeford, Maine, the son of Joseph and Rose (Tardif) Ruel, he had been a longtime resident of Manchester. Roger attended Eymard Seminary in Hyde Park New York, for high school and two years of college seminary studies. As a devout Catholic, Roger attended daily Mass regularly. He was formerly employed in the auto sales business.

Roger is survived by his children, James Ruel and his wife, Debra of Bolton, and his daughter Karen Pilch of East Hartford; his grandchildren, James Ruel and his wife, Abiah of West Hartford, Elizabeth and James Matern of Unionville, Timothy Pilch and Megan Pilch of East Hartford; and great-grandchildren Lincoln, William, and Claire Ruel and Liam, Owen, and Ryan Matern. He is also survived by his sisters, Brunette Beaudoin of Fall River, Massachusetts, and Claudette Tremblay of Omaha, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.

Roger often celebrated life's milestones with Debra's parents John and Kathleen Cummiskey of East Hartford, as well as Debra's extended family.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 26, at 9:15 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester, with burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bridget School Advancement Office, 74 Main St., Manchester, CT 06042.
