William A. "Budd" Stratton

William A. "Budd" Stratton, 90, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Marilyn (Andrews) Stratton, died peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Jan. 22, 1922, in Suffield, son of the late Hugh E. and T. Elizabeth (Erhart) Stratton. Budd grew up in West Suffield on the family farm. He was a graduate of Suffield Academy and attended the University of Connecticut. Budd served our country during WWII with the U.S. Army Air Force. He worked for Stanadyne in Windsor for 35 years, before his retirement in 1985. He was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Windsor Locks, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. Budd brought the Eucharist to the homebound and local nursing home residents for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Holy Family Passionist Retreat League in West Hartford for over 55 years and a member of the Cursillo Community. He was a member of the American Legion, a volunteer at Loaves and Fishes, and a supporter of the South Newfane Baptist Church in Vermont. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed gardening, hunting and spending time at his camp in Vermont. He was also an avid card player and a longtime Boston Red Sox and UConn women's basketball fan.

Along with Marilyn, his wife of over 24 years; he leaves his children, Thomas Stratton, and his wife, Kathleen, of Enfield, Carol Maxwell, and her husband, Derek, of Merrimac, Mass., Linda Kozloski, and her husband, Edward, of Suffield, Nancy Fleury, and her husband, Roderick, of Windsor Locks, Kathy Natoli, and her friend and former husband, Angelo, of Haverhill, Mass., and Ellen Kelting, and her husband, Michael, of Enfield; his daughter-in-law, Luann Stratton of Windsor Locks; his step-children, Joseph Flynn, and his wife, Sarah, of Windsor Locks, Kathleen King, and her husband, William, of Windsor Locks, Daniel Flynn, and his wife, Christine, of Meriden, Thomas Flynn of Windsor, Robert Flynn of South Windsor, Michael Flynn, and his wife, Regina, of Windsor Locks, and Patrick Flynn, and his wife, Shelly, of Colchester; a sister-in-law, Rita Renouf, and her husband, Normand, of Windsor Locks; 30 grandchildren, Kate, Sean, Julie, Billy, Stephen, Matt, Mark, Adam, Jon, Chris, Andrew, Teddy, Danny, Alicia, Steven, Sarah, Samantha, Jamie, Kaitlin, Kerry, Rachel, Billy, Emily, Kiera, Kelly, Gillian, Bennett, Michaela, Shannon, Galen; three great-grandsons, Mason, Eli, and Isaiah; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline Cousineau Stratton; his son, William A. Stratton Jr.; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Bagley; and his sisters Lenna Favreau, Helen Mew, Lillian Jackson, Regina Beveridge, and Elizabeth McCabe.

His family will receive friends on Monday, May 28, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. (Rt. 159) Suffield, CT.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Windsor Locks.
