William Sweet Obituary
Bill was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to Albert Sweet and Cecile (Rondeau) Sweet. Bill lived in Manchester most of his life before moving to Vero Beach. He battled cancers starting at a young age and throughout his life. Bill was a machinist for a few years at Carlisle Johnson before joining the local town fire department in 1965 until his retirement in 1996. Bill raised his family in Manchester, going on vacations yearly with his family and enjoying other activities with them. Bill was an avid motorcycle rider: he took three trips to Florida on his bikes. On his first trip he rode over 990 miles in 12 hours: he was so proud of that. He always enjoyed going to the beach, swimming in the ocean, and digging clams. After his
retirement he moved to Florida where he settled in Vero Beach, building a house and enjoying the warm weather. Bill made many new friends in Florida by volunteering for community services. Many people enjoyed his humor. While in Vero he liked to go surf casting, hoping for the big one. He also enjoyed gardening and taking care of his
prize mango trees and his pineapples.
Bill will be missed by many people. He leaves two sons, Scott Sweet, his wife, Chris, and daughter, Hanna, Stacey Sweet, his wife, Donna, their daughter, Courtney; a former wife, Nancy; and his significant other, Anne DeVanney.
A service is being held June 9, at the Elks Club, 30 Bissell St., Manchester. The family will start receiving guests at 2 p.m. A short service will
follow at 2:30 p.m. with a reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Manchester Firefighters Memorial Garden, 331 Tolland Tpke., Manchester, CT 06040.

I was about 14 years old when Mr Sweet took me for a ride on his motorcycle boy was that great! I grew up with Scott and Stacey and want to send my condolences to them and their families. Thanks again Mr. S ! William Cratty Sr and family
