Alan R. Gothard 1958—2016
Alan R. Gothard, 58, of Monroe, WI, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at his home. Al was born April 6, 1958, in Freeport, IL, the son of Eugene L. and Phyllis (Rife) Gothard Sr. He graduated from Stockton High School in 1976, and married Jill Fosnaugh on April 6, 1985, in Monroe. Al loved motorcycles and was employed as a motorcycle mechanic most of his life. He worked for Engle's Kawasaki and Motoworks of Freeport for several years, and had owned and operated the Cycle Shop of Monroe since 1998. He was a member of the American Motorcyclist Association. Al was a great father and was always there for his children. He is survived by his wife, Jill Gothard; three children, Sarah, Alex, and Hannah Gothard, all of Monroe; parents, Eugene Sr. and Phyllis of Freeport; siblings, Eugene Jr. (LaRae) of Savanna, IL, Pam Glastetter (Jim Corp) of Stockton, IL, Robert (Jan) of Lena, and Philip of Freeport. He was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Dayton in Oct., 2015.
A visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 1329 31st. Ave., Monroe. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
