Lori Carr Obituary

Lori A. Carr 1960—2016
Lori Ann Carr, 56, of Freeport, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg, WI after a short illness. Lori was born on January 26, 1960 in Freeport to Ronald L. and Sheila J. (Martin) Bender. She attended school in Dakota, IL. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Lori's family meant everything to her and she was always organizing Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations, that became a tradition, that everyone looked forward to. She especially enjoyed spending time at her Cabin on Buffalo Lake in Montello, WI., with her extended family. Her only grandson Jimmy was very special to her and they spent many adventure weekends at the lake together. She never missed any of his sporting events and was at every game or school activity. She had a passion for decorating her house to celebrate the season or an event whether it was Halloween, or Christmas or her favorite teams, the Steelers or Duke's Blue Devils. Lori spent many mornings running and working out with a wide group of friends and also ran in numerous charitable events. Lori leaves a legacy of hard work and helping others. She has spent over 25 years with Com Ed in Northern Illinois. And she would always show up with one of her famous cherry pies to any family or friends celebration or for someone who just needed the support. Lori took the opportunity to visit Ireland, her grandmother Theresa (Sheehy) Martins homeland with her Uncle Pat's family, spending 3 weeks there in June. She met and stayed with her cousins from Castlebar to Limerick and Kilkenny to Tralee. She met over 20 relatives who welcomed her with open arms and shared with her many of Irelands historical places and beautiful country side. She saw the home in Limerick where her grandmother was born and raised. She said it was a magical trip. Surviving are her 2 sons, James (Karla) Carr and Michael Carr both of Freeport; brother Steve (Tanya) Bender of Rockford; sisters Rhonda (Curt) Schroeder of Lake Summerset and Mary Kay (Michael) Sizemore of Virginia Beach, VA.; grandson James Carr, Freeport, 2 nephews, Matt Schroeder of Wisconsin, and Shelby Sizemore, Virginia; nieces, Alexus Bender, Sheila Bender and Nadia Bender of Rockford and Sarah (James) Schackelton, Louisiana. Also surviving is Lori's soul mate, Mark Tucciarone. In addition, Lori is also survived by her Uncle Pat (Mickey) Martin, Aunt Veronica DeBoer, and Aunt Bernie (Bill) Eberle and a special cousin Dan Martin, including other numerous aunts uncles and cousins here and in Ireland. Lori was preceded in death by her parents and her Uncle Steve (Sue) Martin. The family would like thank the University of Chicago Hospital, The University of Wisconsin Cancer Center and the Agrace Hospice Care, for the wonderful service and care they provided.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 10, 2016 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home.
