She was born in Hastings, Nebraska on September 4, 1937, the oldest of four children, to Dan and Violet Genschmer Chatterson and grew up on farms in Inland and Doniphan, NE. She graduated from Trumbull High School and attended the University of Nebraska, School of Agriculture, majoring in Home Economics. De married A. They lived in Dallas, Denton and Houston, Texas while George completed Seminary before settling in Lincoln and building their own home in 1963. De worked as manager of seamstresses at a waterbed sheet company and at Southeast Community College teaching in the Culinary Dept. For many years, she was baker and co-owner of "A Tasteful Affair" coffee and pastry shop in downtown Lincoln. De worked for the Nutrition Dept at Bryan Hospital before retiring. De was known as an avid and accomplished quilter, producing quilts for many members of the family. De was also a dedicated gardener, always sharing flowers and produce with friends and neighbors. She enjoyed music and was a lifelong piano player. De will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who was always interested in people and she will be deeply missed.

De is survived by her sons Jay Dan Edgar of Lincoln and Marc T. Edgar (Lynn) and their two daughters Emma and Abigail Edgar of Glenmont, NY; her son-in-law David Giraud and his daughter Madison Marie Giraud of Lincoln, younger brother William R. Chatterson (Neva) and their two daughters C'Anne and Drae Chatterson of Greeley, CO, younger sister Cynthia Chatterson Highfield (Donald) of Severance, CO and her son Keith Reitz (Mallori) and daughter Amber Reitz Moore (Kevin) plus nieces and nephews. De was pre-deceased by her husband of 61 years Rev. Adrian George Edgar, daughter Tara Edgar Giraud (David) and brother Jack Chatterson (Gretel).

A Memorial Service will be held in Rudge Chapel at Wyuka Cemetery on Monday, July 14th at 11 a.m. with burial to follow. In loving memory of a wonderful lady De and I shared many, many good times, stories and laughter. Her and George lived across the street from me while I was in Lincoln. An excellent quilter - we talked over many subjects while sitting in her driveway with a cup of tea. And she loved those Husker women´s volleyball - we were able to go to a game together. I´ve missed her since I moved. De will always have a special place in my heart
