Patracia Swik Obituary

YORKVILLE - Patracia Swik, 80, died Friday, January 9, 2009, in Searcy, Ark. She was born April 2, 1928, in Buffalo, N.Y. to William and Margaret (nee: O'Conner) Shanahan. She spent her early years in Buffalo. On July 17, 1954 she married Joseph Swik at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dover. Following marriage, they made their home in Yorkville. Pat graduated from Gateway Technical College with a degree in nursing. She was a nurse at Highridge Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dover. She was a member of China Painters, the Herbal Society and the Homemaker's Club in Arkansas. She enjoyed china painting, cooking, sewing, reading and raising purebred collies. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Swik of Yorkville; daughters, Bridgetmarie (Kurt) Klawitter of Brighton, Marshalynn Swik of Maynard, Ark., Michelleann Swik of Evening Shade, Ark.; grandsons, Joseph and William Swik; sisters-in-law, Lois Shanahan of Lockport, N.Y. and Kathy Shanahan of Sun City, Ariz. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Mary Breen, Catherine Mannion, and three brothers; Jack, William and Thomas Shanahan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at 12 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dover with Rev. Howard Haase officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the church.
