Please accept our most sincere condolences on the passing of Ramon. I always had an admiration for Maverick as we would call him. Honest, hard working and loyal to his family, Ramon was an example to us as a man and father. As I told his brother,"there are those that are related to Ramon, and those that wished they were. RIP..

My brother Ramon was the fourth child born to Maria Trvevino y Fernandez de Garza and Alejandro Garza y Rubio. The first thing that comes to mind about my brother is that he loved to work. We spoke over the phone every Saturday at 6:30 AM sharp. Often during those conversations he would remark that, in reality, he had never worked a day in his life. He loved it so much that to him it was all play. He especially liked to figure out how he could get more done with less effort.
He was playful, but he always knew the relative value of things. One of my favorite stories about him involved work in his youth. One of our uncles asked him to help out at a local ranch putting up barbed wire fencing. Ramon went, but when the rancher advised him that the hourly rate would be ten cents an hour, he promptly found a place to take a nap and dosed off. When our uncle found him asleep, he gave Ramon a good chewing out; but, Ramon held his ground, I'll get more value out of sleeping one hour than working ten at that rate!, he argued.
He wasn't given to boasting; but when the Packers beat the Cowboys on the gridiron, he would find an opportunity to ask me, How did the Cowboys do last weekend? There would be a chuckle in his voice and, I'm sure, a twinkle in his eye. I looked for ways to get back at him; but, the Packers have had their way with the Cowboys of late.
From the humblest of beginnings, with no formal education, he forged a life that would be the envy of many. He lived the American dream. He owned his own house, his own cars and had his own landscaping business. And he loved his family; in this regard, my brother was truly blessed. I was always so proud of him; as he was of me. I will miss him dearly.
