I was just telling "the kid" about a memory with Danno. He had it in for Pearl Jam and when their song came on the car radio he clicked it off and broke into song "Can't stand the butter man"....I will never hear that song again without thinking of him. :) Miss that guy something fierce.

Dan I can't believe it has been six years now...we sure do miss you on the court. When you find yourself strumming a familar tune smile down upon us land "lubbers" ... the beat goes on.

Dude was the first guy I met when I joined the YMCA back in 92--I cracked a joke about tri-pods and he laughed like a lion---we were friends from that point on--we hiked up some mountains in Colorado, sang tunes on long road trips, played chess to all hours in bars and restaurants around town-hanged 10 on a catamaran-but the most fun was playing Volleyball with Dan over the past 25 yrs--Dude I hope you find some cool chats and rants on the other side--we will miss you on that balcony surveying your kingdom---See all places Danielson!

I first met Dan when we stood at the bus stop together for grade school. Later, we became good friends and spent a lot of time hanging out at the coop. I will never forget a trip down to Milwaukee's lakefront with some friends from the coop, when Dan spent the entire drive giving me a detailed lecture describing how an internal combustion engine worked. It was priceless and I take that knowledge with me to this day. That may have been the longest stretch I have ever seen him go without singing! Thanks, Dan.
To Sue, Toni and the rest of Dan's family and loved ones, my heart goes out to you.

I went to hs with Dan. I too remember the day and nights at the "coop." The first and only song I ever heard him sing was an original piece he called "I don't Care." I thought it had a good hook to it. The friend I was with thought it was rubbish. How wrong my friend was......
See you on the other side Dan.

I know I posted once already but that was when I had just heard. I have now had a chance to think a little more, and the last time I heard him sing was at the beach. People were mesmerized. I loved so many of his songs--especially "Unchained Melody" as an encore at Summerfest. Although we hadn't kept in touch much lately, the guy will always be in my life as a happy memory. Dan, you're now our "Spirit in the Sky".

I've known Dan for about 40 years and have played in bands with him on and off for over 30. I remember when he first started hanging out at "The Coop" (Marty Laun's chicken coop) with us and he would sing to every song that we played on the stereo. He knew every word, every melody and every nuance of all those songs. A great talent and a great guy. Farewell my friend, you will truly be missed!

Daniel and I had a very harmonious relationship, filled with laughter, wry sarcasm, adventurous traveling, mutual love of a certain Dragon Dog and of course the common language of music. That "Helluva Rock & Roll Band" in heaven just got a terrific guitar player and someone who could STILL hit all those high notes, (and KILLER v-ball shots!). Lucky them. I will miss my brother Danny T, always. p.s. throw a stick for Dragon for me, will ya? xoxo p.p.s. All my love, Moser Family

My earliest memory of Daniel was a 6ft4 inch clown playing a guitar..God I will miss him! He was the star of our 25th anniversary and made our party so special. He played many Harry Chapin tunes for Karen and I. Always loved to sing a song with the name "queen" in it and then point me out and say...THAT WAS FOR YOU QUEENY!! I am so sad for his family and all of us...state fair wont be the same...

Thank you for the kind words and heartfelt tribute to Daniel. He was always happy on stage and his talent brought so much joy and great memories to family and friends. Our mom would beam with pride as she watched her talented son sing. I picture Daniel singing in the heavens - the largest venue ever, with his parents in the front row. Thank you, Toni

I was lucky to play volleyball for the last 20 years with Dan at the Y. He played last week with us and was diving on the floor for balls. That was Dan, passionate and driven to be the best he could be. I will never forget Big Dan.

I knew Dan from high school, but it wasn't until a couple years later I got to know him better. One summer we both seemed to end up at Tomter's Inn on a Saturday night. Sometimes other friends from high school showed up and sometimes they didn't. That's when we would just talk and I got to think of him as a friend.
My friend, Mary, and I would go listen to Dan when he was playing and this goes back to the days of Daniel T and the Crankers. We both bought T shirts and when we went to New Orleans, we put them on and partied on Bourbon Street. Gotta promote the band, ya know. I have the picture of us out in a frame to this day.
One of my favorite CDs is Dan's 'How Many Faces' CD. You can tell what bands influenced him but yet it is uniquely him. The best thing is Dan got to do what he loved and people loved him doing it. My sympathies to his family.

Bye, Dan, and thanks for the many great times-school, Sidetracks, Summerfest ("Mom knows a rock star!!"), Toepfer bashes, always singing my Turn the Page request, and finally exchanging our cancer dilemmas. Regretfully can't make it for formal farewell, but you're always in my memories!!

Dan was an original member of "Mac, and the Cheeses", our team name for many grass and indoor tournaments. I too remember the magnets taped together with athletic tape between matches. I also remember a guy who attacked to ball with a fearless tenacity. Those who played indoor with him might remember how confidently he would attack a high 2 ball regardless of the size or experience of the blockers he faced. He was a firey competitor yet a great teammate at the same time. I really enjoyed playing the game on his team. Mac and I caught his show at Summerfest one time and were pleasantly surprised by his guitar talents. RIP Big Dan.

I've known Dan (a.k.a.TEX) since High school. It was a pleasure to finally be able to hire Dan to perform at my Restaurant/Bar at the Wisconsin State Fair for the last 4 or 5 years. Performing at the fair reintroduced Dan to fans that had seen him years earlier at Brass's as well as a whole new legion of fans. Every time Dan sang if you looked around at people's faces you could just see the joy he brought to them. If you were having a tough day it was all forgotten when you listened to Dan Sing. Everyone was always asking me, "who is this guy? HE'S Awesome! "I want to hire him for my wedding, my divorce, my funeral, and you name it.

A crowd favorite was when Dan sang "Mexican Radio" by Wall of Voodoo. We requested it everyday and Dan would always smile and crack up when we sang along and attempted to dance!

At the state fair, food on a stick is all the rage. We served a bacon wrapped hotdog on a stick and between songs Dan would very enthusiastically promote it. "get your bacon wrapped hotdog...ON A STICK!!!

A lasting memory that I will never forget is from the last night on the last day of state fair. Dan played well past the deadline of 9:00 pm because the tent was full of people and everyone wanted him to keep going. And he closed with 4 or 5 songs from Pink Floyd that was simply magical. The crowd was left in complete awe.

You will be greatly missed my friend. I love you.

Daniel would sing "Rocky Mountain High"for me after my brother passed away nearly ten years ago. It may have been annoying to him, but he never made me feel foolish. His voice and spirit consoled me when nothing else would. He will be missed.

I am one of Dan's volleyball buddies. We have played on and off together for the past 20 years at the Y. Dan played one last time with us 10 days ago. He was diving on the floor for balls and having a great time with everyone. Dan was one of the most passionate, driven guys I have had the pleasure to share a court with. If there is a court in heaven I hope every set is high enough for Dan to crush the ball for all eternity as he did on earth. RIP Big Dan. Steve
