Edward Scheibler Obituary

Edward Harris Scheibler

Edward Harris Scheibler, born April 14, 1932, passed away in Boston, MA on January 19, 2021. Born in Sewickley, PA, Edward was a long-time resident of Glendale, WI where he worked at Dean Witter Reynolds and later as Senior Vice President at the Milwaukee Company (now Stifel). He was a frequent listener to Milwaukee's classical music station WFMR and frequently won prizes calling in to identify classical music. A true humanist, Ed was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy, Yale University where he was a Class Marshall and Phi Beta Kappa, and a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at Oxford University. Ed was an avid historian with a passion for modern European history. Prior to working in investments, Ed worked in independent schools as Headmaster at Gould Academy in Bethel, ME and taught history at Phillips Academy. Ed is survived by his son Edward Scheibler Jr. (A. Rachel Leheny) in San Diego and a daughter Dr. Ingrid Scheibler (John Coates IV) in Newton, MA, his former wife Edeltraud Gudrun Scheibler, and his first son Karl Hochstetter (Bernadette Hochstetter) of Switzerland as well as eight grandchildren: William and George Scheibler, Ava Scheibler, Oliver and Henry Coates, and Carol, Nicole and Aline Hochstetter. Ed was a cerebral wit with a well developed and eccentric sense of humor. He will be much missed by his loving family.
