She was my favorite. Such a big heart. And she taught me more about writing than anyone before or since.

A teacher who really cared...
Ms. Kohnke was a fantastic teacher. She had great pride in her work and her students. She, more than any other teacher/mentor/role model, prepared me for UW Madison. I am forever grateful. Thank you, Ms. Kohnke

Eileen was a great teacher who cared deeply for each of her students. I was honored to teach with her for over 25 years at Eisenhower High School and even more honored to have called her my friend. My wife and I will cherish our social memories of her at the lake.

Ms. Kohnke was a great mentor to individuals like myself who worked with her after school and on weekends on the school newspaper. Though I do not work in journalism, the skills she taught me at Eisenhower and her guidance in technical writing assist me on a daily basis in my correspondence to the public, as well as in my other job tasks where I need to provide written communication. Thanks for all you did for the students, and if there is a concession stand up there in Heaven, make sure you run it like we did on so many Friday nights at Ike football games. You will be missed...
