Florence La Tona Obituary

Found peace on October 27, 2004 at the age of 85. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie (Catalano) and 5 sisters, Frances (Tom) Torra, Donna, Annette, Marie Kezeli and Roseanne (William) Schaubs. She is survived by her brother John (Yvonne) La Tona and nieces and nephews.

Florence served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) during World War II, stationed in the Pacific Theater of Operation. She reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon her honorable discharge she became a medical secretary and later worked at the Veteran's Administrative Hospital until her retirement in 1979.

Florence was a generous woman who gave more than we know. We will remember her through her stories; for we each hold one dear to our hearts.

A Christian mass was celebrated with close family, followed by an interment at Holy Cross Cemetery where she received full military honors.

I appreciated that Ms. LaTona served her country in the Womens Army Corp during World War II. As part of the greatest generation she helped save the world. I salute this veteran. In her honor I am registering her name on the computer data base at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
