John La Tona Obituary

La Tona, John A Passed away peacefully to his eternal reward on November 25, 2016 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of the late Yvonne (Pearson). Father of Frank, Mary Jo, Jack (Mary Jane), Donna (Michael) Scaffidi, Alan, Amy (Gerald) Falk. Loving grandfather of Kealy, Mariano, Franko, Jeana, Mary, Alysa, Shelby, Weston, Samantha, Marissa, Sophia, Isabella and John. Great grandfather of Keo & Giovanni. Brother-in-law of Allen (Shirley) Pearson and Delores Pearson. Also survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. John was born of February 15, 1924 to Frank and Marie (Catalano) La Tona. Shortly after graduation from Pius XI High school in June of 1943 he entered the U.S. Army to serve his country in World War II. He was a Surgical Technician during his tour of duty in the European Theater and received his honorary discharge in June 1946. Upon his return to civilian life he studied business courses and upon completion at the age of 29 he started his own business at 14th & Wisconsin Avenue known as LaTona Office Supply. Throughout the years John continued to expand into other business equipment such as time clocks, watch clocks, mailboxes and apartment security systems. Finally retiring from his business LaTona Equipment in 2012 at the age of 89. John was a long time resident of the Village of Hales Corners. He was a past member of the Greenfield Lions Club and a lifelong member of the Pompeii Men's Club. A visitation will be held on Friday December 2nd at St. Vincent Pallotti Parish at 201 N. 76th St. Milwaukee, WI 53213 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
