Giovanni D'Amato Obituary

D'Amato, Giovanni At age 81, Giovanni passed peacefully on January 5, 2015. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Ann (nee Vella) D'Amato, and his two sons, Fred (Jennifer) and John (Patricia) D'Amato. Beloved grandfather of Robert, Samson, Dominic, and Sophia D'Amato. Dear brother of Nina (the late Salvatore) Balestreri, the late Vincenzo (Carmelina) D'Amato, Joe (Santa) D'Amato, Sal (Enza) D'Amato, Anna (the late Nino) Storniolo, Nicolo (Julia) D'Amato, and Lenny (Guisseppa) D'Amato. Special brother-in-law of Mary Jane (the late Joseph) Vella and JoAnne (the late Dominic) Vella. Further survived by countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, throughout Wisconsin, Arizona, California, and his beloved Sicily. Giovanni was born to the late Onofrio and the late Antonia (nee LoCoco) D'Amato, on February 12, 1933, in Porticello, Sicily. He emigrated to the United States in his twenties, but maintained his Sicilian ties through an abundance of friends and relatives. Giovanni was an active member of the Italian Community Center and Abruzzese Galileo Galilei Society. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of celebration of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, on Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. Monica Catholic Church, corner of East Silver Spring Drive and North Santa Monica Boulevard, Whitefish Bay. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee.
