Jim was born in and lived all his life in Milwaukee aside from his schooling and military service. He graduated from Milwaukee Country Day School in 1947 and Haverford College Haverford, Pennsylvania in 1951. Although an average athlete he found athletics a rewarding activity, lettering in football and basketball. He served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1954 aboard the U.S.S. Silverstein (DE534NKUN) and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant J.G. Jim graduated from Marquette School of Dentistry in 1961 and after a rotating internship at The Zablocki VA Medical Center he attended the Mayo Clinic from 1962-1964 as a Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After one year of practice with Drs. Harry Landa and James Callamer he began a private practice in downtown Milwaukee on Wisconsin Avenue. He was privileged to practice at Columbia Hospital on Maryland Avenue heading the Division of Dentistry and Oral Surgery for many years. His philosophy of practice was to provide holistic, professional and sensitive care. Jim was a member of the downtown Milwaukee Kiwanis Club and The Town Club. Upon retirement in 1998 he enjoyed doing home repairs, taking care of his yard, gardening, bird watching and swimming laps at The Town Club. What he enjoyed most of all was attending the athletic events in which his grandchildren participated to include baseball, soccer, basketball, rugby, tennis, volleyball, football, swim meets and synchronized swimming. The family wishes to thank Dr. Carl Olson and his radiation team at Columbia St. Mary's, Dr. Charles Tiber, Dr. Peter Slocum, Dr. John Sanidas, Dr. John Lesko, Dr. Terrence Wilkins, Dr. Gholi Darien, Horizon Hospice and St. John's on The Lake for their loving and compassionate care. Jim is grateful for the loving support and prayers of the St. Paul's family where he was a life long parishioner. Jim believed that a good education is essential to success in life.
