Jeffrey Littmann Obituary

Littmann, Jeffrey M. Began his eternal ride on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at the age of 56. Loving husband and best buddy of Kelly James-Littmann. Adored step-father of Casey, Ashley and Michael. Jeff was born on February 15, 1954, to Vivian and the late Jack Littmann. He is the cherished brother of Jack (Lynn) Littmann, Jerry (Mary Ellen) Littmann, and Joni (Terry) Forster. Jeff was a 1972 graduate of Cudahy High School. He attended MATC and the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. Jeff was a longtime employee of Vic Tanny and owner of Wisconsin Health and Fitness. Jeff was a popular friend/advocate in the cycling community. Jeff and Kelly are proud owners of Attitude Sports shop in Pewaukee. Jeff is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many, dear friends. He is an inspiration to all who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff of the SICU unit at Froedert Hospital for their loving care. The family will receive guests on Saturday, October 9, at Nativity of the Lord Parish, 3672 E. Plankinton Ave., Cudahy, from 9AM-12:45 PM. The Memorial Mass will be at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to be made to the family for a future Collegiate Cycling Scholarship in honor of Jeff. I met Jeff when I took a job at his Fox Point Vic Tanney in 1987. What a summer--I'll never forget his kind words and his encouragement. A gentle and hands off leader is a rare kind. Thanks, Jeff, for all you did to make the world a better place

I'm sitting here today in complete denial, I still can't believe Jeff is gone. My deepest thoughts, prayers and sympathy go to his family in which he loved very much. Jeff has taken our entire family under his wings when he started as a Manager at Vic Tanny Southridge. Our entire family joined just because he was such a great person. We remained in contact and are so proud of Jeff for all of his accomplishments and for being such a great person. The last time I seen Jeff was about two years ago when a Chropractic business sponsored a race right in our sub-division and the judging and tents, bikes, etc. were on my lawn... we were happy and excited to be part of this event even though we weren't participants, it was just exciting. More exciting was when Jeff came rolling up and said "what are you doing here", I said "this is my house" he was never to our house before... we talked a while and remembered old times... at any rate, I could go on for days. He was genuine and we will never forget him. I am still sick to my stomach over this and think about him everyday. God Bless you Jeff, you will be missed but never forgotten. Love ya man!

I knew Jeff back when I was a manager at Vic Tanny Health Club in the mid 80's. Jeff was the best and he was a real mentor to me. He pushed me and showed me how to set and achieve goals. I still remember his calls at the end of the day asking me how we did. I'm a better person today because I knew him. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I met Jeff over 30 years ago when I first moved to Milwaukee and joined Vic Tanny, He was kind and understanding and taught me a great deal on fitness, He never had a bad word towards anyone and always had positive attitude. Haven't seen Jeff in awhile but that doesn't diminish the positive effect he has had on my life. I know he will be sorely missed.

I met Jeff when he sold me my bike. He treatedd me as though I was his best customer. But above and beyond that, he was excited to see my son come in the store with me. When we met Jeff, Collin was only 12, but Jeff made him feel as though he was already a biking super star and that he was honored to have him in the store. Collin never forgot that and we will ride on together, better people for meeting Jeff. Our heart felt sorrow goes out to his family and friends. We will miss the future opportunity to have you in our biking lives. May God Bless you and Keep you, my friend.

These are all beautiful tributes to Jeff. I, too, have many memories of him from long ago and his significance in my life remains unmatched. We are each struggling in our own way to make sense of this unbelievable loss. And, while we are all heartbroken that his big spirit has left this earth, I can't imagine the loss that you, as his family, now feel. My loving thoughts and prayers go out to you: Kelly, Casey, Ashley, Michael, Vivian, Jack, Jerry and Joni.

I went to High School and graduated with Jeff. AS you know as things go in High School there always seemed to be the people whom everyone knows and others not so much. I was in the not so much group but Jeff always had the time to make me feel special. I'm sure he was like that with everyone in his life. I also lost my husband at a young age and my heart goes out to you. Your family will be your strength.

This is a very sad time for all of the people who's lives were touched by Jeff's Spirit.
He was the best boss a young professional could have had. I was Jeff's Marketing Director for Vic Tanny in the glory days of Health and Fitness. Traveling with Jeff to make sure all the locations were striving for success was filled with life lessons. He made sure everyone was moving towards thier goals. He believed in me and gave me the opportunity to succeed and prove myself professionally. I will miss him always. I know I am a better person because of the faith he put in me. I hope to pass that spirit onto others.

Thank you Jeff!

All Family and Friends are in my prayers.

My deepest condolences to Jeff's wife and family. I met Jeff in the late 80's as an instructor at the Appleton Vic Tanny's. He lived and breathed a fitness lifestyle.I was so intimidated by him, but learned he had a very kind and generous heart. When I came to him asking if he could possibly help sponsor me in the Mrs America Pageant, he instantly donated the full entry fee! May God Bless Jeff's family, you are all in my hearts and prayers during this difficult time.

May God Bless the entire Littmann family at this time of sorrow.

I have known Jeff since I have been 5 years old and fell in Love with his brown hair and blue eyes immedialtely as every other girl did. I will never forget Jeff's kindness when we were getting out of JE Jones School at the end of the day. It was raining outside and Jeff went home to check if I could come into his home to get out of the rain, what inspiration for such a young man. And this has followed him through out his life, just looking out and taking care of others.

Jeff was the consummate professional in everything he did and all that will be said about him will not scratch the surface of his depth of character.

I know him only from an occasional and historic cycling encounter. Those short encounters left a mark. Kinda like “meeting a Gandhi” kinda thing.

Over the course of a only recently personally acknowledged blessed cycling history, I’ve met and raced with many influential people in this sport. Superweek, Heiden, Young, LeMond on and on.

History..

I feel very fortunate to have known Jeff, even to the small degree I did, and to be able to add him to the list of people and events above that added to mine and many others lives.

Godspeed Jeff

I live in the Village and do not recall how or where I met Jeff in the last 4-5 years. He was just one of those special spirits that was easy to get to know. Along the way he told me about his years at Vic Tanny, his own clubs and I remember when he had his racing accident. When I stopped in one day and learned he he started Attitude it was so great to see. He seemed the kind of person that was in his element when he was helping others with their fitness. I will miss chatting with him when I would run into him around the Village. Such a huge loss to everyone who knew him. My condolences to his family and friends. Peace Jeff.

To all of Jeff's family (Kelly and the children, Jeff's mother, brother, sister, and anyone I missed),

I just wanted to say how sorry I was when I learned of Jeff's tragic accident on Friday, Oct 1, 2010. My hopes and prayers were that everything would be ok, and I would see him again in his element @ the shop and on group rides! I was saddened to hear of his passing!

I have known Jeff for 20+ years! He was my Area Director at Vic Tanny Health Club in the late 80s and early 90s. You always knew where he stood on every issue, and never wanted to let him down. Even after a bad day, he always believed in better tomorrows!!!

Over the years, I saw him often in group rides since I'm also an avid cyclist. I would always see him at the races, and he never failed to say "Hi Rick". The area group rides will definitely not be the same without him, and I know every cyclist in the area feels the same as I do.

Jeff, you will be missed!!

Jeff was the regional manager for Vic Tanny in Kenosha when I was an instructor there about 25 years ago. He was well-liked by everyone and always had a positive comment and a smile. He will definitely be missed by all with whom he came into contact. His family is in my prayers. Godspeed.

October 7, 2010

Such a tragedy. Our hearts go out to the family for your loss. I have a memory of a long time ago when we all were kids. The Littmann kids and the Walters kids hanging out at summer recreation at J E Jones school. Vivian, if you need anything we are just down the street.

Jeff's death saddens me deeply. While I didn't know him personally, I am touched by the kind words others have expressed.

To his family, my prayers are with you as you mourn such a deep loss. I can relate as my 36 year old nephew, Chris Livingston, will hit and killed by a car while training for a race in the Orlando area last November; his only child, son Benjamin, turned two the following day.

May all who knew and loved Jeff find comfort in God's reassuring promise of never ending love and the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

You are in my prayers today.

Our hearts go out to Jeffs family. We have been neighbors of Jeffs parents for 30 years and it is easy to see where he got his love of life. Couldn't ask for nicer people. He will be missed a great deal and I hope we can help the family heal. Rest in peace friend..

October 7, 2010

Jeff was an inspiration to our son Ulrich during his cycling career. "Unless you can be as one of these (children), you cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven." We will never forget how, with no hesitation,he loaned Ulrich his brand new aero wheels, to give him an edge at Nationals. He often protected Ulrich on group rides, when Ulrich was so small. We are deeply saddened by his passing, but grateful that we could be touched by him during his life, which was full of energy and giving.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Littmann family and all of Jeff’s friends. Over the summer I was able to get to know Jeff and his team at Attitude. I always looked forward to seeing Jeff. He was always so nice with this great positive energy and charisma. My wife conspired with Jeff to surprise me with a new Roubaix for my birthday. This was an unexpected surprise and Jeff, Scotty and John made sure everything was perfect. When they surprised me at the shop I still think Jeff was more excited than I was! When we last talked, he wanted to know all the details about my latest ride and he just listened with that huge confident “I told you you’d love that bike” Jeff smile. Jeff’s passing is such a terrible tragedy and brings such sadness for his family, friends, and those of us who were just getting to know him, but I will be forever grateful to have spent time with Jeff. He is one of those very special people you meet within your lifetime.
I will think of you often, Godspeed Jeff!

Growing up in Cudahy not many people inspired me more that Jeff Littman. He was charismatic, witty, ambitious, tenacious and many other things that I wanted to be, but fell quantum leaps short of the bench mark set by Jeff. This is a terrible tragedy for the Littman family, his friends and all those that admired what he had done with his life. I cannot find the appropriate words. It's hard to articulate anything of intrinsic or inherent value at this point. I pray for the Littman family, stay strong in the face of this adversity and let's celebrate a meaningful and noteworthy life. My sincerest condolences, my deepest sympathy and my most heartfelt wishes for the well being of his family.

"I knew Jeff for 25 years, when he was the V.P. of Vic Tanny...that was in the day when I was a young twenty-some year old and was working with him on marketing. He was so respectful and enthusiastic about life that he left a positive impression on me throughout the years. We re-connected, after not being in contact for a dozen years, when I heard about his first bike accident after reading the article in Milwaukee Magazine. I asked him how this changed his life that he survived the first accident and he said, 'I always lived life to the fullest, this just makes me realize even more what's important to me which is being happy everyday.' As a current resident of Pewaukee and fellow business owner, I saw Jeff recently at his new business and congratulated him on his new marriage. He couldn't have looked happier. It is hard for us to understand why his life was taken early, but I do know this: he was an inspiration to us all on how to live life to the fullest and most importantly, to never stop loving.
