Joel Taylor Obituary
Taylor's death was announced by fellow "Storm Chasers" star Reed Timmer on Twitter on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018.
"RIP my best friend and storm chasing partner, Joel Taylor," Timmer wrote. "We chased so many intense storms, and I wish we could have just one more storm chase."
The cause of death has not been announced.

Taylor joined the cast of "Storm Chasers" during its first season in 2008. The documentary series focused on the lives of weathermen as they intercepted tornadoes in Tornado Alley, an area of the United State known for its severe storms. He stayed with the show until it was canceled in 2012.
The scientific data gathered by storm chasers is valuable, but it is a dangerous job. In 2013 former "Storm Chasers" star Tim Samaras, his son, Paul Samaras, and Carl Young, died while chasing a tornado in El Reno, Oklahoma.
An Oklahoma native, Taylor studied meteorology at the University of Oklahoma and was currently storm-chasing with Elk City-based Team Western OK Chaser.
"He was one of the most level headed chasers on the roads and truly a classy guy outside of chasing. He didn't chase for the glory he chased because he had a true passion for storms," the team wrote in a Facebook post.

I just recently stumbled upon and became obsessed with Joel and reed’s videos. Joel seemed like a very kind-hearted and fun soul. I would have loved to get to know him. I just found out about his death today (9/3/20) and I’m totally heartbroken. I want to express my condolences and assure that my prayers are with him, all his family, and friends. May God grant Joel Taylor peace.

I am completely lost and so sad about the passing of Joel. I knew him on a very personal level. My heart is broken and I wish his family and friends so many happy thoughts of Taylor from here on out!

Like many, I didn't know Joel personally. I "knew" him from watching Storm Chasers. Because of him and the others affiliated with the show, I gained a greater understanding and appreciation of the raw power, beauty and devastation of tornadoes. For that I am grateful.
My deepest and sincerest sympathies to his family, friends and fellow chasers. May you get through this difficult time with whatever faith you have and in your memories of Joel.

I am extremely sadden by the loss of Joel. I did not know him personally but it surly felt like I did. In 2014, I was going through a difficult time in my life. I watched all of the seasons of Storm Chasers 6 times in two months. That's literally all I did. Joel, inspired me to chase myself. Last year, my first official year chasing, I got to see several tornadoes. Joel, inspired so many. Thank you for sharing Joel, with all of us.

I only met Joel last year and I wasnt disappointed. They say never meet the people you look up to but that didnt apply to Joel Taylor!
