Joseph Blommer Obituary

Blommer, Joseph William Died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 20, 2010, at the age of 67. Longtime resident of River Hills. Best friend and loving husband for 20 years of Karen (nee Kraynick) Blommer. Proud father of Richard (Taffy), Peter, Anne, Michael, and William Blommer. Cherished grandfather of Ally, Maggie and Katie. Dear brother of Henry (Judith) Blommer Jr., Peter (Sally) Blommer and of the late Ann Blommer Drake. Further survived by other relatives and many dear friends. Joe was born in Milwaukee, WI, on April 10, 1942. He was a graduate of Country Day School and a 1964 graduate of Georgetown University where he served on the Board of Regents. Joe was a dedicated and loyal leader of the Blommer Chocolate Company. He was a man with a vision of success and had an exceptional love for his job. Far exceeding that was his love for his family. As a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Joe enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family, whether it was a day of skiing or simply enjoying a relaxing day at home. He will be missed more than words can express. His spirit will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Healthreach and Stowell and Associates, especially Sarah, Tanya, Amanda and George, for their loving and compassionate care. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 23, at 2:00 PM at Gesu Catholic Church, 1145 West Wisconsin Avenue (W. Wisconsin Avenue at North 12th Street). Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery will be private for the family. Memorials in Joseph's name may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society, 124 Watertown Street, Suite 2D, Watertown, MA 02472.

To the Blommer Family,
My deepest sympathies to all of you. I think of Joe everyday and all that he has expressed to me about life. He touched my heart and that pushes me further into nursing. I will always think of him in my career. He was the kindest person no matter how he was feeling that day. He cared and loved everyone around him. I know he will be greatly missed, but he will be lived on forever with all he left behind and through his family. If any of you ever need a helping hand or someone to talk to I'll be here.

To the Family of Joe Blommer:
We want to express our deepest condolensces to the family over the passing of Joe. I was a member of the class of 1955 at MCDS, and knew Joe's sister, Ann Blommer Drake, very well. Harry Drake and I remain close friends to this day. My father, Bill Beck, was a close friend of Henry Bloomer. Both gentlemen shared one common advocation togther; they loved to fly, and flew together on several occasions.
Once again, please accept our sorrow over the passing of a friend and a highly respected gentleman amongst his peers, Joe Blommer.

Dear Blommer Family,
I worked for Henry & Al when I worked in the Roller Room 1967-1969, and I may have met Joe. I have many fond memories working at Blommers and I still by my chocolate there. There was no union, there were great benefits and it was tough for me to leave there for my careers in teaching and locksmithing.
