Dear Laufer Family,

What a tragic shock to hear of Kevin's death. I am so saddened, yet I still reminisce of our happy times together in the 1970s at Waukesha Skateland. I'll always remember our summers on the motorcycles, and the evenings at Skateland. I will pray for your family in these difficult times ahead.

May Kevin rest in peace, Rev. Jim Bartylla

I was deeply saddened to hear of Kevin's tragic passing.

My first job and formitable years were spent at Butler Skateland. The entire Laufer family provided a wonderful moral, fun and loving enviornment for myself and many others.

I can picture Kevin and "Pine Tree" teasing Chuck and Debbie by singing "Chuckies in love".

I remember Kevin and I were relay partners and he would push so hard I thought my wheels were going to fly off. I had all I could do to hold the turn without crashing and for almost an entire lap I didn't have to make a stroke.

At the end of the night we had to clean the bathrooms and as you can imagine the boys was pretty bad. Often times Kevin would clean these for me...if I vowed never to tell anyone.

I will always remember Kevin as funny, determined, outgoing, strong willed, competitive and at times would show a gentle side.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the entire Laufer family. Please know that while Kevin has entered the Kingdom of God and is gone from this earth he will be in the hearts and memories of many.

"Tis grace has brought me here thus far and grace will lead me home".

May God give you comfort.

My deepest sympathies to the Laufer family. I, too, spent my teen years at Waukesha Skateland and have many wonderful memories.

"He [God] speaks to all of us who have stood or will stand in the soft dirt near an open grave. And to us he gives this confident word: 'I want you to know what happens to a Christian when he dies so that when it happens, you will not be full of sorrow, as those are who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and then came back to life again, we can also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him all the Christians who have died.' (1 Thess. 4:13-14 TLB)" Max Lucado

There is no sorrow that GOD can't heal. It seems hard at times but if you still away and listen you will hear all the words that Kevin has said before. This let's you know that although he's not physically here, he lives inside within you. My prayer are with you, the Laufer family, the Skateland family and the many friends that have been impacted by Kevin's journey. Know that in God you can find comfort. For he sent his only begotten son to die on the cross for us so that we may be who we are today. My prayers are with you all.

I am deeply saddened by Kevin's passing. I will not all the wonderful times spent with him, Julie, and the boys at the rink. My heart goes out to his family. I hope you all had a chance to have Kevin's humor touch your life.

"Bits and Pieces"

Bits and pieces. Bits and pieces. People. People important to you. People important to you cross your life, touch it with love and move on.There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of relief and wonder why you ever came in contact with them.

There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of remorse and wonder why they had to go and leave such a gaping hole.

Children leave parents, Parents leave children, Friends leaves friends. Acquaintances move on. People change homes. People grow apart. Enemies hate and move on. Friends love and move on. You think about the many people who have moved into your hazy memory. You look around at those present and wonder.

I believe in God's master plan in lives. He moves people in and out of each other's lives and each leaves their mark on the other. You find you are more because of it and would be less if they had not touched you...

Pray God that you accept the bits and pieces in humility and never wonder, and never question, and never regret. Bits and pieces. Bits and pieces.

Kevin had his own way of taking care of his business as well as life, and I'm thankful he pasted some of his knowledge onto me regarding both. He will be sorely missed by myself as well as my wife Rainie. Dinner at the Butler Inn will never be the same, stories of the rink, the trips he went on with the family and of course trying to get him to pay for the dinner!!!! He lived life to the fullest and tried to make time for the things in life that mattered. May God bless his children and all the memories they have of him.
