Marc Griesbach Obituary

Entered into Eternal Life at the age of 85 on May 14, 2005 at his home in Brookfield after a long illness. Beloved husband for 59 years to Mary H. (nee Lampe) and father of Marc, John (Toni), Thomas (Dana), Paul (Pauline), Peter (Linda), William (Joanne), David (Gay), Joseph (Joanne), Mary Ann (John Snider), Michael (Jody), Katherine (Thomas Lewis) and Barbara (Nick Freres). He is also survived by 40 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Joan), Robert (Mary Lou), Don (Sally) and sisters, Virginia (Don) Switchenberg and Donna (Don Mahoney). He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Susan Griesbach; brother Norman; sister, Sr. Mary Donna, SSND.

Mass of Christian Burial Tue., May 17 at 11AM at ST. DOMINIC CATHOLIC CHURCH, 18255 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield. Interment Holy Cross. Visitation Monday at the Funeral Home from 4-7:30PM with a 7:30 Vigil Service.

Marc was born in Menasha. He served in the 8th Infantry during WWII, then finished his BA at Marquette University. He went on for a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Toronto and returned to teach at Marquette from 1951 until retiring in 1987.

He was president of the American Catholic Philosophical Association, a member of the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, Marquette Faculty for Life, the Metaphysical Society, the Chesterton Society, the National Right to Life Association. and served as chairman of the Marquette Athletic Board. After his retirement, he taught at LaFarge Institute. Marc was a member of St. Dominic Parish for 40 years where he sang in the choir and was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Memorials to Marquette University or the St. Dominic Vincent de Paul Society appreciated.
