Tess, Melvin E. "Bud" Age 89. Passed away at home on April 20, 2016. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley (nee Block) Tess, son Eric Tess, and daughter Karyn Tess. Loving father of Marna (Kent) Tess-Mattner and Neil Tess. Cherished Grandpa of Paul Tess, Amy (David) Mikec, Samantha (Mike Lawson) Tess, and Lillianne Tess. Proud Great-Papa of Jude and Molly Mikec. Devoted brother of Shirley (Tess) Stuppan. Dear brother-in-law of Jeanette and Edward Knuth, Yvonne (the late Richard) Block, and Paul and Sandra Block. Treasured uncle, great-uncle, cousin, honorary uncle, and friend. Mel was a proud graduate of the Layton School of Art and was one of the founding members of the League of Milwaukee Artists. He rediscovered his love of painting in retirement, and cherished his art classmates, teachers and friends. He retired after 32 years at Globe-Union, Inc. (later Johnson Controls) and was a founder, officer and longtime member of the Globe Conservation Club. In addition to painting, Mel loved hunting, fishing, playing his piano, putting together jigsaw puzzles, doing crossword puzzles, watching movies, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. Visitation at the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 23rd from 2 PM until the time of Memorial Service at 4 PM. Private burial at Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Globe Conservation Club, Inc. or the League of Milwaukee Artists.

Members of The Milwaukee Sketch Club send our condolences to family and friends of Mel.

Mel has been a cherished member of the sketch club for many years.

Mel enjoyed sketching on Tuesday nights and rarely missed a session. His talent was apparent in his sketches, and paintings, and an inspiration too the club members.

He was a friend to all who knew him and will be missed by all.

I enjoyed meeting Mel at the Milwaukee Sketch Club. He was a good artist and art friend. He was one of the first artists that I met through MSC. We even shared Christmas cards for several years. I still have his cards. He will be missed. I want to share one other thing with his family. It is verse that I like to pass along.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night:
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.
~Mary Elizabeth Frye

Be comforted in the thought that Mel ...Bud will be with you always.
