Michael Derrick Obituary
Milwaukee - Mike took his final at bat as he passed into eternal life on November 10, 2020, at the age of 63 years. Loving husband of Lynn (nee Ropel). Preceded in death by his father Richard G. Derrick. He is also survived by his mother Sheila Derrick; his cherished children, Andrea (Luis) Velazquez, Michael Derrick, Kayla (Aaron) Thurner; and treasured Papa of Ariana and Daniella. Beloved brother of Richard "Butch" (Brige), Debbie Nuszubaum (Joe Lachat), Bill (Doreen), Andy (Karen), Kelley (Bill) Lewens and TJ. Fond brother-in-law Mike (Jacque) Ropel, David Ropel (Penny Bucholz) and Sandra Koceja. Preceded in death by his in-laws, Shirley and John Ropel; Duane (Mary Lynn) Ropel and Greg Koceja. Further survived many wonderful family members and friends. A special thank you to Dr A. Jella and the wonderful staff at the Aurora Cancer Care Center-27th Street.

Mike was a great guy and teamate! I was lucky to play 10+ years with Mike and shared many great games and Championships on the Milwaukee MSBL Pilots Baseball Team. I will miss his competitveness and camaraderie!

So saddened to hear the news of Mike’s passing. As a former neighborhood friend who grew up across the alley from the Derricks (my home away from home), I have many memories of the fun times we shared. Mike was definitely “one of the good guys.” My condolences to Lynn and the rest of the Derrick family.

I grew up with Mike and have fond memories of him throughout our school days. I was so sad to hear of his passing. He was an all around great guy. My sincere sympathies to his wife, children and extended family. I know he’ll be deeply missed. My prayers are with you all.

I used to work with Mike at Roadrunner. I spent 3 1/2 years working side by side as his counterpart and he always made things interesting. He had a unique personality that I’ve missed since I left my job there. I am so sad to hear the news of his passing.
