Richard Perea Obituary

Perea, Richard J. Died peacefully surrounded by family on August 25, 2018. He was 72. Rich was a twin, United States Marine, and record-setting wrestler. Rich was 6-minutes older, and the better-looking identical twin to Roger-his first and best friend. Rich and Roger were so close they regularly finished each other's sentences. Rich joined the Marines in 1964 on the buddy system with Howard Gordon, who was his close friend and subsequent brother-in-law. Rich supported the Vietnam war from Headquarters Marine Corps in Washington DC and Okinawa, Japan. He was a true patriot and served until 1968. Rich was also a champion wrestler in high school and still holds the record for fastest pin (6 seconds) at Whitnall High School. In addition, he was a passionate Packer fan and loved playing cribbage every Friday night with family and friends. Rich was the son of the late Margaret (Emelio Perea) and Ernest Stanich. He is survived by his twin brother Roger Perea (Dorothy), sisters Geri Gordon (Howard) and Ray Stanich, and brother Clifford Stanich, "adopted children" Ron and Shelly Cox, godchildren Amii LaPointe (Andy), Eric Perea (Blake Ewing), favorite nieces and nephew Howard Gordon (Jenny), Claudette Matson (Jason), Aubrey Coates (Michael), great nieces and nephews Alyssa, Emma, Aiden, Jake, and Abigail, and many other dear friends and family. A very special thank you to the 9th floor palliative care staff at the Milwaukee VA Medical Facility for the amazing care and comfort they provided to Richard and his family. A private burial and celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Honor Flight Network. To receive this obit/directions, text 1811643 to 414-301-6422

All of those wonderful friendships we made and it is a joy to know that most of us still are in each other's memories forever young. It is difficult to imagine that for Dick this part of the journey is over. The picture of him with that great smile captures well the person I remember.

Roger...so sorry for the loss of your brother.

To a great friend of over 35 years. He was always their to help me on a project, to talk to and also a great person to have fun with. He was more than what I could of asked for in a friend. Richard was always a very positive person and knew how to deal with life.

Sorry to hear of Dick's passing. My thoughts go out to the Families that were so close to him. It's hard to get older and lose friends that you have known so long. He will always be remembered by the class of "64"
